CCP looks to have well and truly found their path, lots of long called for improvements, YAY !!!
There is one major annoyance that breaks immersion, annoys many timezones, and is a technical embarrassment for CCP; downtime.
There is a year old dev blog, death to downtime that states "It is our goal that sometime in the not too distant future, EVE Online will have no daily downtime."
Any update on that ?

"technical embarrassment"?
lol.
dude have you ever played any other pc game........ ever?
almost all mmo's have some sort of downtime/ update interval........ planned or not planned.
It's how the cookie crumbles...... get used to it.
Stop whining its only 30 min. which isn't a big deal at all. Unless eve is your life............. |

I'd love that. I play mostly afterwork but the first hour or two is just staring blankly, eating etc. while I unwind. By the time I get going downtime is 2 hours away. Now with that DayLight Saving piece of garbage in effect I lose an hour and playing after downtime isn't really an option bcause it's around my bedtime.
Failing the elimination of downtime I wish there was some way to stagger the maintenance times for instance, have it start one half hour each day or something to spread out the pain rather than punishing people who live in a certain time zone or with a certain work schedule.
Until DST goes away in spring EVE will be barely worth playing for me. Weekends might be ok but I often work 6 day weeks. |

they do downtime in their optimal time.....as TQ is in London UK it makes sense to do a downtime during UK business hours. Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless your from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs. |

Have played at least half a dozen MMO's, starting back in '96 (god I'm getting old). Eve is the only one I've played that has daily DT, most others have none except scheduled or unsheduled once in a while. DDO is the only other regular one, once a week I think from memory. Am very glad it's down to less than 30mins now, most annoying having it fall right in the middle of your own prime gaming time.
Has long been one of my pet peev's so would be glad to see it go. |

I like down time. It gives me a quiet period afterwards when only some people are online. CSM do you think? No matter the changes, high sec people chose the safests. Lots of stick and they will leave. Half the problem is the players in null sec; we do not want to be there with you. |

would you rather the server go down for 30 minutes at a regularly scheduled time, or have it crash at an noppertune for 2 or 3 hours at a time, and have it still be finnecky for another 3 or 4 hours? |

Right now, for stability, DT needs to happen. I don't care when it is, 30M a day is better than 6 hours and lost data at any point in time.
I wouldn't care even if it was during my regular playtime... except I would be concerned for CCP employees working so late. |

Point is CCP have stated they want to get rid of downtime, so no need to make excuses in defense of downtime.
With all the big changes going on, perhaps downtime is being looked at ? |

in all fairness yes dt sucks... however it gives the game time to refresh systems, roids, rats, plexs. etc. also usually the dt is only like 15 mins, thats time to smoke, fap, drink, bio whatever, many years back dt was 1 hr easy usually more so i can say this whole heartedly it is working as intended. |

Yeah, the timing is perfect for me. Just around midnight NZ time, so it's a good signal to step away from the PC and get to bed for work the next day. Otherwise I might never make it in

When referring to a collective noun in this case, 'have' is actually correct, as the speaker is talking about a group rather than an individual.
Incorrect: 'The police has stated...'. Correct: 'The police have stated...'
Correct: "CCP [a group] have stated...' Also: 'CCP [a company] has stated...'

Going to go out on a limb here and say that down time is good as it is because Europe is working, America is sleeping and they will probably always make up more of the player base alone than Australia will ever manage. CSM do you think? No matter the changes, high sec people chose the safests. Lots of stick and they will leave. Half the problem is the players in null sec; we do not want to be there with you. |

I havent seen it yet :( last i heard was they needed to do a sit down on how to handel mechanics that involve or require DTs. Asteriod growth could be handeled in a decent manner but a outpost out of an egg would look odd going POOF !"Im a station now." On both a database and graphical sense.

DT takes nowadays less than 15 min. It is not any issue anymore for most ppl. Furthermore, after the dt, it gives you a time frame to avoid gate camps when ppl is still logging back in. |

Why don't people get the problem with DT? With DT you can't organise any fleet operation or fleet has to dispand with DT coming up. For people in the DT hitting peak play times this is a major problem. Its not the length of DT its the fact DT happens EVERY night. DT could be 5 min for all I care. Its the fact you have to stop everything your doing and start again. |

This!
I usually use this time right after DT to move expensive stuff in my covert transport and things like that to minimize the risk. |
