I was temped to post this in one or other of the recent threads concerning the RA/LV/-V-/CHIMP/KOS struggles, but it properly deserves its own thread. My only interest is in properly recording recent events, correction of any (unintentional)inaccuracy is welcomed.
Red Alliance and [5] were fighting in the south east. When [5] declared their policy change and left to fight in the north, RA suddenly found there was a power vacuum which, as the predominant cohesive military powerhouse operating in the area, they could fill. So they did.
Some (ATUK) sponsored Corps in Detorid could not stand against RA, and evacuated. They formed CHIMP and spent a lot of time planning how to try to get back to Detorid, and preparing to do so. They reasoned that RA ought not to be able to hold all the regions they had indefinately, so they might not try too hard to hold on to Detorid or, if they did, it would probably be only a matter of time before other forces had the same idea and moved on RA controlled Regions, which would assist CHIMP in a struggle for Detorid. CHIMP moved resources to a forward base, an early attempt at a blitzkreig attack failed, they made a strategic retreat and made preparations for a fresh assault.
-LV- then formed and made a move to return to the south east. They chose to "side" with CHIMP against RA, rather than enter into a power sharing agreement with RA.
Veritas Immortalis had been fighting NSBI and RA in Great Wildlands. Their conflict with NSBI ended, and then CHIMP and LV allied with them, and all 3 Alliances began to step up hostilities againt RA. LV captured territory in the western sector of the theatre of war, CHIMP made a second attempt to gain sovereignty and take the stations systems in Detorid and, with resources now starting to be stretched, this time succeeded. -V- struck out down from Great Wildlands, to the South.
With this many pilots arrayed against them, RA lost some ground and some of their sponsored/allied Corps left their umbrella or were otherwise evicted from their positions in 0.0. At the same time, more pilots/corporations started to join the 3 "allied" alliances, who were then joined by KOS Alliance. Although primarilly concerned with seeking to control their own respective regions of interest, these 4 alliances worked together against RA to serve their common interests.
Broadly speaking, RA now have Cache and Insmother, contest the regions immediately bordering those regions to a greater or lesser degree, and sporadically raid into two or three others. The allies have the majority presence in Scalding Pass and Wicked Creek, and have control of the other south eastern regions.
With numbers on both sides more or less even now (count up the number of members in the alliances - although MCs involvement is a most interesting new factor) my personal view is that it now falls to be seen whether RA can strike back at the aggressors with sufficient harm to cripple them and regain some territory, or whether the 4 allies will continue their momentum (possibly continuing to attract more forces to their banner and growing in size), or whether a stalemate has now been reached.

hi.
RA lost some ground and some of their sponsored/allied Corps left their umbrella or were otherwise evicted from their positions in 0.0.
you should ask a RA leader for the exact numbers but since war started RA gained ~5/6 new corps under it's flag.
concerning numbers, i personaly think that... forget the numbers...
What's your question? you know that by posting this you'll have lots of peeps coming here to flame do you?
Situation doesn't need to get sorted. Both groups have their own "sight" of the situation (0/10 grammar).
And you will not change it.

A surprisingly unbiased post.
And yes, RA have lost members in terms of alliance count. Not a significant number, though. -------- Shinra Director

Razin and Omeega both make good points, (I do not read them as flaming). Pointing out my expression "change of policy" may not be accurate, and pointing out RA too have attracted new members, are exactly the sort of comment that can properly be made.
I do not have a question, Omeega. I am interested in EVE history, specifically my Corporations' part in it, which I try to record in my Corporations Forums. This post was intended to start a discussion in the "Alliance discussion forum" . And yes, I do realise there will probably be some flaming, but I can ignore that, and just look at the worthwhile comments.

adding my 2 Cents
Big alliances with many corps (lets say 1000/1500+) will most time have a "turnover" espcially in war times
this means some corps leaving/kicking some corps recruiting and doing this in a cycle, as long there arent any core corps leaving its pretty meaningless
due to this big alliances will fluctuate in member numbers but doesnt have any real consequences
also recruiting in war times >> recruiting in peace times in my opinion as you can see rather quickly if the recruited corps have what it takes to stay
your post was a very interesting read and looked quited unbiased, i wonder if more alliances will join you down there aginst RA, as its atm prolly the best chance to snatch 0.0 space

I would say that a pretty good account of what has and is happening.
Although the only bit i dont agree on is the numbers bit
V allaince = 951 members Lotka Volterra = 919 members Chimp - 1004 members KOS = 769 members
Total = 3643
RED allaince = 1677
Other than that generally a good post

Ye ens. but member losses aren't important as they happen everyday. If someone leaves it's because he/she wasn't realy prepared or didn't want to do as the corp did.
I was talking about CORP losses. losses that realy "injure" (from the verb injuring?) alliances.

Situation doesn't need to get sorted. Both groups have their own "sight" of the situation (0/10 grammar).
as someone who hasnt been around forever, i always enjoy learning why and how a situation comes about. theres only so much you can get from looking at the old maps, and the information gained from other threads is usually spun in the direction the poster wants it to be viewed.

Yes very true. Might have not been clear enough. let's take the example of [5] vs RA.
I didn't take the leaving of some members from Shinra for a victory.
For me changes apeared only when SHINRA / MCORP actualy moved away.
This is what I tried to say.
Let's discuss it.

Yeah you missed out, err, something or other which happened with Fallen Souls & SMASH, don't really know what it was but might deserve a mention. Also I think the numbers, in total, are slightly against RA, althout I think they're pretty close friends with FFA. Plus they have more out of alliance, but still fairly allied corp's than their opposition. In other words numbers are a bit hard to count (not that RA = FFA or RA = RAT or anything). - - - - - - - - - -

I think numbers in ally not really important.Following is possible: An ally was formed by two corps, every corp has 600 members, every member use his second and third alt and the alts has joined these corp,so one corp has only 200 active members.Next all members have a second account (mining and PVP) and this account has also joined this Corp, then the corp has only 100 active members ( for pvp). The ally in total 200.Both corps have different timezones and the half of all member are at work. Now there is a CTA.In worst case a big ally can activate 50 member and a single corp with 90 active members is stronger.
