So anyone in the US has seen the movie? I heard it was a controversial one. Last night I got the graphic novel (the old original one). It was quite amazing storyline.
Alan Moore himself doesn't like the changes that were made in the movie. ---------

Yo brastagi,
Only seen the commercials, I thought since the makers of the matrix made it that it would be quite good. I can't wait to see it though.

Yo prof, Yea I know the Wachowski brothers making that movie. I've seen it from Mtv "making the movie". I wouldn't be surprised if I will be bit dissapointed with the movie since I already read the comic . Somehow it's going to look good tho.
I prefer V politic follow the comics. Being an Anarchist beside Liberal (in the movie) fighting Fascism rather than Neo-Conservative (wtf?!?!) ---------

I thought it was a good film. Well acted but a strong cast of devloped characters, John Hurt's role was outstanding and played to perfection. Natalie Portman's accent was abit on the dodgy side for a few of her lines, but most would miss that. The set pieces were excellent and the entire film very well shot with good camerawork.
As for the glorification of terrorism arguement, I'll leave that for the people who haven't seen the film to discuss, as in watching it they would understand the content rather than shoot their mouths off in political bable and retoric.
All in all a god show, well worth going to see. Althought I'm not in the US, I don't quite understand why your question starts with that question, I don't think the european relase has any major content changes, as for the original writer not liking thechnages that were made, films always change the original storyline, and I'm sure he can cry into all those dollars he got paid for it. ---- Runner BH Lead |

Anything that challenges the government in the United States is automatically considered Anti-American. And thats sad.
Now onto the movie, OMFG!!!! Movie of the year!!! I am still awestruck. I caught the first line in of a review in a paper which implied it was poor. I should probably go see it, as I always seem to like films given bad reviews. _________

Saw it on Friday night, and I loved it.
Great storyline and acting. But also it was the little things that made it an exceptional film. The way he doesnt remove the mask, even at the end, the little snippets/references to the real world (iraq war/bird flu), the inclusion of benny hill!
Im glad he didnt remove the mask, like every other hero, not only as it made it a better film, but also the second he did I would probably just start thinking "omg agent smith!".
The way the mouth on the mask doesnt move when he speaks is a little weird at first.

This is why this thread was not a good idea.
Another review
I think, like other things, the Wachowskis have taken a great concept and ran it into the ground through pseudo-intellectual garbage thrown into an otherwise great film.

the only message is that a government is it's people and what that government can make the people believe. So don't think based on what the government is telling you, think based on what you yourself feel.

Really. I guess the fundamentalist christian stereotype strawmen rampant in the movie don't factor into it at all.
The only difference between the demons in this movie and the real world is that you let movie producers tell you what to think instead of an Orwellian black helicopters/blackshirts political party.

Edited by: Alexis DeTocqueville on 20/03/2006 00:44:05 The social message was very very subdued, I was disappointed. The character development and the depth of their personalities, at least for V, was great. I've always liked Hugo Weaving and I hope he starts to get more starring roles instead of being typecast as villain and/or elven hardass.

I just saw it today, and I liked it a lot. I didn't realize that there were several versions of it though - what's the difference between them? (I'm not from the US so if they have their own version then I haven't seen it.)
Nothing too controversial in it really imo...
(Is the changes from book -> movie or different types of movies in USA/Non-USA or something else?) _____________________________________ meep meep |

dying to go see this, i love the W Bro's, and its sad that most people think there work will suck.
Makes me laugh when i look at the reviews and the critics comments that slated the Matrix Trilogy to hell and back, then ofc the films broke numerous records at the box office LOL, critics cant be trusted these days.
But from what ive read of the film, it should make for a mouth watering viewing. ---- Join Us

The only good Matirx movie was the first one. Everything else was just a rehash of the special effects and the continuation of a storyline. By the end of the third movie EVERYBODY KNOWS what's going to happen.
"OMG, NEO WON!!"
"Yeah, they told you he was going to win back in the first 30 minutes of the first movie. Why are you so surprised? And why is it that the good guy can be surrounded by MILLIONS of bad guys and only have to fight one?"
Hrmm... cheesy movie? Terrible special effects in 2 and 3? Storyline that should've been summed up in the sequal and not drawn out to make more money? Check, check, and check.
I hope V for Vendetta is MUCH better than Matrix 2 and 3! Esspecially 3! --- --- --- ---
