Anyone out there think it is possble to fit an Assault Frigate for decent sniping (I'm not looking to tank any sentries, just snipe frigates from 50km in 0.0)
At the moment I'm flying a retribution and I'm finding it very hard to fit beams. I've thrown together a setup and I'm wondering if I can do any better..
4 Medium Beam II - loaded with 100% Advanced Beam Crystals
--
Sensor Booster
--
RCU/MAPC
Tracking Enhancer II
2x Tracking Enhancer I (used due to CPU limitations)
Heat sink II
With this setup I hit around 49km Optimal with standard gunnery/AF skills.
Any advise please, and any tales of previous experience on the subject :)

The harpy is an execlent sniper the retrebution can snipe but its nowhere near as good as the harpy at sniping.

It's possible to snipe up to about 90-95km or so with a harpy. Just use 150mm rails and tech 2 ammo and fit a couple of tracking comps.

harpy will outsnipe any other AF imo, has range bonus and thus can use spike to good effect

I can get my enyo to a 79km optimal with 1 damage mod fitted aswell.

Thrasher.. 280mm II + tremor.. 54km optimal (well i don't remember exact number) >.>
(that's with no enhancer or tracking comp)

you can fit a harpy out to hit from 80km without any range mods (apart from a sensor booster) and still have room for 2 damage mods, you could extend this further with some range mods quite easily

Both the "t2 ammo" DB and the "mod" DB were bugged. Edited now.

If you're only looking for roughly 50km range, then I would suggest looking at the Enyo as opposed to the Harpy. While the Harpy receives that double optimal bonus that really allows it to reach that massive range, the Enyo has one optimal bonus and a tracking bonus - something that would be very helpful with countering the tracking penalty if you were to use the tech 2 long range ammo.

i get 80k optimal in my harpy with 150 and t2 ammo and i know it can go further
also i know the wolf can snipe out around 90k too so u choose
ps always 2xweb on the harpy for these nasty inty's

In reality, best of them all is the cormorant, since you can load up on 150 II's and it has the same range bonus as the harpy. With spike ammo 100km optimal is not that hard to get. Though I must admit I'm not sure if you can squeeze 7 150 II on it....

You need a MAPC to fit 7x 150mm II.

I fited 4 150mm t2 rails
2 x sensor boosters (named)
1x tracking comp
2x mag stabs
in my harpy, Im 1 unit of CPU shy of fitting another trackin comp, Once i get electronic 5 finished i should be able to fit,
Is this a decent snipy fitting? i will use t2 ammo if the bonus is worth it

Jaguar 4tw , out snipes the wolf easy and actually stands toe to toe with the Harpy.
8-70km range easy.
