I am not bashing this game. I just feel like I am missing something.
I have not actually done anything in the game for several weeks now. I am just training skills. The last time I did anything game related was doing the tutorials. Then I did about a week of killing space pirates. Then I bought a PLEX because, I absolutely loathe boring and repetitive quests/missions. The Space pirate missions are just awful after a few days. Am I missing something?
Now I am just lost training skills endlessly...
I supremely enjoy PVP. The reason I bought this game was because of some of the awesome and thrilling large scale battles between warring corporations. So I thought, "Ok I will apply to all the PVP corps using the in game corporation matcher thingy what ever". I got one quick response. This guy was insanely suspicious of everything. He was absolutely dumb founded. He was in shock and awe asking me how I found about this corp. After a long and I thought fruitful conversation about many different things, I asked him if I could join. I never got a response... He just AFK'ed and I never heard from him again. Am I missing something?
So I move on and check my invitations a day later. I join a PVP guild. One of those "we don't give a flying finger who joins" and low and behold I have found a good PVP guild. They seem active. When I join I see 10-15 players on a Wednesday, which I felt as if that was pretty active. I proceed to undock from the station and I get the message "Leaving this station will cause Concord to gun you down. Are you sure you want to undock?" Uhhh... Freak no.... I canceled the undock and asked my corp why I couldn't undock. Faction war, yadda yadda, undock and run away, Yeah nooo... so I quit that corp. Am I missing something?
I soon realized that the corporation recruiter/application tool is just awful. So I took it upon myself to find corps via the internet. Every corporation worth joining is:
A. unreachable B. password protected C. Requires 3-6 months of straight skill point training
or
D. a combination of both (99% are D)
Am I missing something?
Honestly. I am hammering this out, but am I missing something? Do I really have to wait this long and dig this hard to get into a community I can relate too?
Trying very hard here to get this game, but at the moment my impression is: pay money to play the game so I... don't play the game?... What?
Someone help me... I really like what this game stands for, but at the moment... I see no reason to carry on with the subscription. I am not paying money for a game I do not play. |

Oh hey, I found your problem
That's not CONCORD, that's the faction navy, and it's
a) Much, much more limited than CONCORD and
b) Only does anything in the hostile factions' home space. So, you could just as easily have moved your stuff to where your corp actually based out of.
c) you can pretty much move around freely in hostile factions' space as long as you're in a fast-aligning ship.
Funny thing is, if you had asked your corp rather than quit immediately you probably would've realized all of these things and been fine. |

"I want to join a PvP corp" Joins one, then leaves. Joins a FW one, then leaves.
How about you stick with a corporation once you join it? There wont be a single corp out there that will fit your playstyle 100%, you have to adapt. It sounds to me like you joined a FW corp and left it without even undocking . . .

Dont worry about faction navy.. even if you are in something that doesnt align quick.. they normally web you into warp at any rate.
Meet up with your new crew and do some pewpew.. if you are not happy with them look at other new player friendly corperations.. RvB are popular as well as Brave Newbies |

RvB or Eve Uni
Those two Corps (not guilds) will be a good fit for getting you more involved in the game and teaching you the way of EVE... long, but fruitful.

I was about to suggest RvB to OP... Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

Eh. Ill give some more effort to finding a corp.
I can tell by the reactions that I really have not exhausted all my possibilities.
I am sure I can find a low level PVP corp in the near future.
I will keep at it, and hopefully I will succeed.
If I fail in a few weeks, then I will rewrite this post.

Sounds like you joined a Faction War Corp who are fighting for the opposite side to where you were currently docked :D You basically accidently signed up with the enemy of your current region.
Note that older established corps and alliances will be suspicious because a lot of supposedly "new players" applying are actually alt characters of the enemy out to do sabotage and spy, the EVE term for this is awoxxing.
HOWEVER, on the bright side, there are a lot of new player friendly corps around including Eve Uni, RvB and BNI just to name a few of the larger ones. Stick with it. |

I usually just take a knife and throw it across the room at a wall covered in scraps of meaningless EvE goals, to determine what a short term goal is.
Right now, the short term goal is 5000 shitpoasts in a three month period.

Copy pasting from another thread.
Quote:I want to join a good corporation but they all have "skillpoint requirements." What can I do?
Corporations that have "skillpoint requirements" are a using a semi-false metric. The belief is that once you have XX amount of skillpoints you are old enough to have decent "experience" in EVE... such that you do not need to be taught the bare basics... that you can operate without having to be told what to do or where.
What you can do to counter this is to... - Learn what the basic terminology is... - Learn how to fiddle with your overview... - Know what ships are generally good and bad at... - And, most importantly, SHOW THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO LEARN MORE.
Most corps will be flexible about their "restrictions" if you directly talk with someone in it and show that you are enthusiastic and intelligent. Those that aren't... they are bad corps and you don't want to join them anyways.
tldr; the SP restrictions are there to preemptively weed out the "general rabble" from applying (and it's working OP *hint* *hint*). Don't be one of the "general rabble." Show that you CAN be part of their "cool kids club." Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

eve isn't instant success at anything. everything needs research from income streams to fitting to tactics to corps. Having said that there are a ton of decent corps out there that are happy to help newbros with advice and experiance. a year ago i was in your shoes and now i have over 200 bill of kills under my feet and am part of the leadership of a 7 year old corp leading a null sec alliance (not an important one or one that anyone cares about). i am on speaking terms with several famous scammers, on good terms with the fine folk at minerbumping as well as several noteworthy forum posters. eve is not wow. spending time grinding helps to only a tiny extent. passive income is the holy grail. intel /scouting is more important than mashing buttons in the correct order. once you get a handle on the game in 10-15 years time it will have ruined all other games for you. I have mastered industry, exploration , missioning and incursions so far. my main game time is spent on small gang pvp and i still suck at it. i do a lot of market stuff but i realise most of it is still over my head. as is the rest of eve. i am well above average IQ and most things in this intellect dominated game i still aspire to adequate. i have made several guides to isk making. feel free to mail me in game for copies. If you have pvp goals then i most likely have contacts that can help with that. again mail me with details of what you are looking for. Please be aware that eve PVP covers a huge spectrum of activity and telling me you just want to pewpew will result in no response. as always some basic research is needed. here is a list of all the fiat currencies that didn't end up at zero value.....and here is a list of the places where a currency pegged to a real commodity has successfully co-existed with compound interest....-á Here is a physics professor explaining why sustainable growth isn't a thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-QA2rkpBSY |
