If I am in a .8 sec space and I create a safe BM out in the middle of no where and then fly a hauler to it. I then eject out of that hauler and fly my pod back to a base and get another ship and go about my business.
That hauler I left out in the middle of no where - How long will it stay there? A Day? Week? Year? Till someone steals it? In a high sec space who can steal it?
Just wondering.
Thanks

Anyone can get into an abandoned ship without consequences.
CCP Please rename "Warp Disrupt Probes" to "Interdiction Spheres", thanks! |

Unless you have aggro on the owner of the ship, concord dont like that much.

Just leave it at a safe spot and then it will be safe.

To be honest I asked the question just for the sake of knowing the answer. Now here is the big question - Why would you do it? What are some reasons to do this?

I used to do it in a system with no belts. I'd have a safe spot holding 4 jet cans or so... making sure I refresh them every hour. Then I'd hop in the hauler also at the safe spot leaving my osprey there, ship the ore across a few jumps to a station, then come back and repeat. ----- Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

Ammo cache? (if you can't leave a container)
I personally used to leave a few tacklers dotted in safe spots in needed system - and in case of emergency I knew exactly where several tacklers (normally) were, I shifted them about every now and again and never had one stolen. Even if they did, whats an incursus with a basic mwd and scrambler worth anyway... not even the cost of the probes, and hardly a OMGWTFRAMBLERAMBLERAMBLEBBQOVEURIMQUITINGCRY!!!!! moment...
Pitty the people who leave BS in safe spots... This makes baby jesus cry. (and people with scanner probes very happy)

I think he meant a system with no stations... mining in a system with no belts? thats talented

Umm... why would you leave a ship floating in space where anybody can take it and head back to the station to pick up another ship? Why not just switch ships in the station? It's more useful a tactic in low-sec to 0.0, but just to pick up a hauler in 0.8? Seems redundant --- --- --- ---

Like I said I was just curious. I am not going to actually do it myself in hi sec. It would be a waste.

lol yes stations :D doh.. was in work at the time I made that post (secret behind-back-of-boss posting ftw).
Because its faster. I was doing it in a 0.9
Found it faster to just leave a badger floating in space so I just flew a faster osprey fitted with an MWD back over there each day. Noone bothered scanning for it, or just never found it. I had 4 shuttles a bunch of giant secure cans holding ore I couldnt be arsed to take back, and a badger there left for days at a time. ----- Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

Get a safe spot over 200 AU from a celestial object, it'd take someone with deep space probes on a very very boring day seeing what they can see. (well not that boring, it'd only take 25-30min to probe out the ship...)

While back ago, we came accross this fella mining away in a cruiser...Right next to him was a hauler....his hauler. He would mine till his can was filled eject from his ship board the hauler and scoop up the minerals....
Well long story short, we got him inbetween ships and got a nice chunk of change for selling them back to him.

i used to do it in y9g when safespots were still virtually unbreakable.
had a ninja mining supply cache there, left the scythe, itty 3, some frigs and the giant secures with the crokite there and used a shuttle to get past the maffia and dna camps :P

Problem with deep space probes is that they generate results within a sphere rather than a circle, so you're probably going to be doing a lot of probing before you isolate three points which are coplanar with the target.
