just got a covetor and have pretty good mining skills.wat is best min to mine in 1.0 and how much isk could i make per hour.

why do you want to mine in 1.0? There is only veldspar and scord there...

Fill it full of combat drones, and go mine in 0.5.
The drones will take care of whatever NPC rats a 0.5 can throw at you, and you'll make loads more money.
Oh, and and people won't poke fun at you or try and suicide bomb you, which is what will probably happen if you try that in 1.0

Got the same problem, I have this char that can use covetor but other than that no skills :) I don't have any drone skills yet. Anyway, what can you put in 50m3 that will save you in 0.5? By the way a couple of npc frigs will prolly kill me no-time (although no experience with barges at all). Anyway, would need to mine a bit for now in hisec since I need money. I'm not impressed by these paper-ships at all, but I know some people (maybe with better skills) do go to 0.5 to mine in them...

50 m3 allows for 5 medium drones, which will take out almost any .5 spawn quickly enough. Fit a small armor rep in one of the low slots and you can handle yourself well enough. I mine in a .5 system in mine and have gotten a spawn while semi-afk even and come back to shields gone and a small chunk of armor gone and still fought off the spawn without worrying.

just take it to 0.7, and armour tank it for the rats there. then you can tank them forever without the need to kill them with drones etc.

I mine in my medium barge 0.5 with 5 light drones. Everything there fears me.
Covetor can do 0.4 solo against NPCs.

People mining with Covetors in high security systems are not liked because high security systems are considered the place new players should be able to go to mine.
Covetors are generally owned by more experienced players, and have a habbit of stripping belts, hence in 1.0 are considered to be taking ore that rightfully should be reserved for new players.
If you genuinely don't have the skills to protect yourself, join a corp and have them supply you with NPC cover - most non-PVP corps will be happy to take on covetor pilots.

Get drones 3, scount drones 3 and fill up with 5 medium drones and a small repper / 200mm plate.
Go to 0.6 and look for omber / kernite. Even the lower ores like plagioclase will be good and there will allways be lots of scordite for you.

Will try something like this, in any case I need more skills for now - besides being able to use a covetor my skills are either 0 or 1 so I need to get some skills to 3-4 (engineering, maybe electronics, drones, mechanic) to be able to mine half-decently. Although I should be able to do it straight away with a couple of drones in 0.8, I guess. This is of course an industrial alt - just got back to Eve so my main is not active yet - anyway he's very poor; I just wanted an industrial alt that will do some mining for now for some isks and then I'll see - he's pretty balanced attribute-wise and with good learning skills already so I can do more and more with it in time. Thanks for the input, valuable thread for indy-noob. :)
