Good question, there are an awful lot of them already.
3+ battleships? If there are NPCs that would require that to kill them, well, then solo hunting is over.

Just because a few very hard battleship pirates would exist, it doesnt mean every npc pirate should be that way.
I like the idea of having extreamly hard npc pirates in the game, that would force a cooperative effort in order to kill them.
I would also like if npc pirates used shield boosters and possibly even hardeners. Of course the bounty would be upped as well. I just think it would be more enjoyable if they were a bit harder to kill than a drone. :/

Agreed 100% Im not even interested in more bounty or better drops, just a challenge. ---------------- ~= Askari =~

EVE desperately needs more NPC content.
DAoC (and most other MMORPGS) has a concept of "epic mobs", named NPC enemies that require a full group (in DAoC, 8 players) or more to defeat, giving large rewards (rare items) for doing so.
Most other games even have NPC encounters requiring 100-200 people. (DAoC has one dragon for each realm, which is extremely difficult to kill even with 100-200 people involved.)
There should still be (of course) soloable NPC encounters, and the majority of NPC encounters should be able to be soloed, but there should be NPC encounters that require a large number of players, essentially providing great risk for great reward. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

When you think about the concept from WOW, when some Quests are instanciated for your or your gang (here for the corp as well?) as a result of accepting a mission, such BIG encounters could also be limited, so that there is no camping at these places. That is one feature of WOW that i¦m seriously looking forward to.

To my nowledge, the entire point of EvE was a fully player-driven environment with as little npc content as humanly possible (apart from the storyline). No "Hunt the giant space-skull"(haha, we laughed so hard at that in the old days), but hunt the big bad player. That's why the only npc content is convoys here and there and various Roid-guarding pirates.
So, no 'mobbing'. I find it sad enough that chainspawning is so repetetive :'(.
Other NPC content such as convoys that make sense, fluctuating demands and more agent content got my vote though :)

God I hope there will be some mobs to fight soon. Flying in a circle for hours killing a chain, or jumping 50 times to try to pin down some players who always warp away in any case just gets a bit old... Except for mining sessions I've just spent my time on Chaos fighting players to have some fun with the game.
Finding some really hard pirates at the bleeding edge of space that would require a full battlegroup to kill would spice up the content a bit.

A few systems on the absolute edge of space and special places in empire space would be nice.

Yeah, but considering that only 10% of the time is taken up by this, at least some change of scenery would be nice when not spending 20 seconds on setting up a trade order.
Oh, and if some BS pirates do come along, spare us them dropping normal shield hardeners or some such. It's sort of dispiriting to kill 150 pirates, whereof cirka 20-30 are 50k and the best drops are a couple of XeCl drills and a nanoelectrical co-proc. Just nothing would be preferable. ------------------ Reventlov Officer, TacDiv The Collective Stain Alliance |

Edited by: Basilisk Bonita on 11/09/2003 17:27:41 I agree with discorporation on this one.
(edit)What I wanted was some Big Events, which can be triggered.
But on the other hand i find this idea not so good, because the eve-world is mainly player-driven. Discorporation convinced me here. Perhaps there should be more (much more) traffic in the systems. More convoys, NPC bounty hunters, Pirates invading High Secs by coincidence (fights with police), ....
Look, there are 5000+ systems, more stations, planets, moons, many of them inhabitated. And "only" 6000-7000 ships flying around? NPC-Pirates i do not count, they are ok, but more convoys. Where are all the people gone.

I would like to see more of the NPC pirates start using jamming equipment as well... Most people out there fighting NPC pirates all day rarely come across any that use the jamming equipment which the PC pirates seem to think of as Gold... We need more combat experience against these threats so we are not overwhelmed when a PC pirates decides to blockade a Gate... also would be nice to see the NPC pirates using combats drones also... All comments are welcome... and i do understand that fighting an NPC and PC require much different ship setup... but i think similarities in NPC fighting and PC fighting should exist so as to give us experience with such...

Then lets fix PvP so it's not a game of who can create the most lag for the other player, and who can get to the gate/station and dock fastest. PvP is so daved right now that its sad. If they want us to "hunt the big bad player" they need a system that works.

HERE HERE ARCH! I 100% agree with you!
As for NPC pirates I could write a book on how lame they are even compaired to less advanced MMORPGs....
for christs sake at least vary them up a little, maybe outfit em with player equipment.
But most of all, REMOVE the CON system they have.
I LIKE a little mystery to my hunting, I don't like knowing every 40K pirate will be super hard or every moderate threat pirate is moderate.
I want to be surprised for a chsange so I really worry about going into a fight the first few times in a new area...
Know what I mean?
I can't see how tough a player is without modules, why can I judge an NPC so easily?
LAME, anyway this is what you get when there isn't enough PVP action due to busted game mechanics or no motivation to fight PC's... you get rushed, half assed filler NPC pirates....
Galaxion > If you drove a car shaped like a thorax women would call you Demangel > Dude... I would call.. Demangel > wait that sounded g@y I bet. Galaxion > Just a bit.

I could care less about the pirates. I need the loot. The large turrets I have are market versions (1200mm and 800mm). If there was a way to improve on them through Research or Manufacturing, I'd not care.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann

Edited by: Lartfor on 15/09/2003 17:39:37 How about this, in DAOC, u dont see 200 people atacking the dragon every single day, its usually a big event, in wich many guilds and people take part in. I think there should be simillar events in eve, in which the gms or polaris causes npcs, or even Gm controlled ships to take action against a certain corp, or region of the galaxy. Something along the lines of Jovian radicals trying to reclaim sections of the galaxy, or posibly a large atack of cyborgs in stain. Right now the combat in game seems to be. Simple stand off PVP, or npc farming.
OR!
Make PVP more friendly for people, so that you can jump right into the action, right now its just too damn risky and just not profitable to do PVP. Posibly make insurance cheaper with a higher pay out, or posible the replacment of certain modules. Many players including myself have worked months to earn enough for thier ships and equiptment, and to have EVERYTHING lost in a matter of seconds is just silly. Increasing drops of very rare items might help, but that also might just messs up the economy.
