In empire you are allowed to do as you please without any restriction.
In 0.0 space there are restrictions. All pilots are required to sell their ores to the corporation and are not permitted to build & sell....go into business. That is the province of the corporation. Peeps derive income from mining & selling ores to corp & rat hunting in 0.0 The corporation builds and sells on the local market. Remember, 0.0 space is privately held and unlike Empire has no police. The Alliance provides the structure of ownership for each member corp. Mining & hunting in 0.0 is totally a privilege. The opportunity to do so was acquired and preserved by the efforts of thousands of pilots. Holding space is an arduous tasks. Pilots are quite wealthy because of the sacrifices of so many.

sounds restrictive! and you escort players in, once a month? I guess it is way out there or something? So what if you're unhappy? hard to detach from corp? And are you forced into a role? start to become a miner who can't go off to mission when a change is wanted?
I suppose I am one of those independant spirits, that would not be wanted ;) but I was curious how you answer these concerns

i can attest as a former student of RESA and now a member of 0.0 space that we are nowhere near that restrictive, you can do alot of what you want out here, the only things you do for the corp is a minign op every other week or so and donatign basic loot from ratting, the valuble stuff you keep, you shouldnt need the normal stuff anwyas, you cant do anythign with it

Hi Cherry:
So glad to hear from you.
Distance...40-50 jumps from empire. Escorts are to assist peeps transit from empire to 0.0 There are ganker fleets on the edge of empire. Those fleets are usually not willing to mess with a dozen battleships. We usually escort FREIGHTERS worth a billion each too. So escorts are for security.
If you are an independent person, then stay in empire. Start your own 1 man corp. Let your alts flesh it out. Invite a friend to fly with you. Enjoy.
We say....If it isn't fun, why play?
However, if you are a generous, team spirited person then RESA and AWE are for you! Big fun!
RESA prepares you for 0.0 AWE is the destination.
Empire is not 0.0
CCP and Concord rules empire. Empire is public. 0.0 is controlled space and private property.
When you visit a person's home, you are expected to abide by the rules of the person whom you visit. Naturally, you don't wipe yer butt with their towels. You don't squash cig butts on their carpet. You don't put your feet up on their dining room table.
It is like that in 0.0
There are rules. You are likely ill suited.
Enjoy empire space. That seems to suit you better.
Last night we deployed OUTPOST #11. BIG FUN!!
It is fun to fly with over 2000 pilots who are not trying to steal your ores nor poach your rat spawn.
No pirates...I'm not a fan of pirates.
The peeps in RESA & AWE do not consider your concerns of any concern. They are happy and content. Occassionally peeps join RESA and are discovered to be ill suited. Those peeps depart. That is good. ...for everyone!
That is the reason for RESA. We need peeps to prepare and understand the joy of deep space before going south.
RESA grows daily. 30 being cut from membership for failure to progress in training. Some peeps fade away & leave game. Some like WOW. Some lack funds. Variety of reasons. No problem. I trust they are having fun somewhere!
So...thanks for the questions.
Enjoy your game experience!
Most Cordially,

hmmmph... telling ME to stay in Empire! ;)
Really there are a lot of things I think I would like about joining RESA. I definately do want to get out into 0.0! I like that it is a BIG group of people, and that they work together to have fun :)
I always wanted to join more mining groups, or mission groups (I guess no missions out there though huh?) I suppose PvPers look to join the "Home Guard" to help protect your space? Do your players still enjoy variety?
I suppose I spend most of my time on missions right now, with some time on mining, some playing around with trading/manufaturing. Occasionally some belt ratting...
For now I play in .2 space, where I can rat without much problem in my battlecruiser (Brutix) and the agent missions give better rewards than .5 and above space. Plus there is a bit of danger risking it all in player pirate infested space ;)
I chose a quiet system to play in, and keep a close eye on local especially when mining or ratting, and the few people that visit are generally friendly enough.
I guess you did not ask for my life story ;) but my point is, I feel a freedom in my choices, and though I really like some of what I see in RESA, I worry about having my play day dictated to me, instead of having the choices I have now.
You haven't really allieved my worries, though you don't seem to be that interested in caring about my concerns, either. Perhaps that is a cost of a big corp too... the single player does not matter?
I was looking at the RESA website too... I noticed some of the first rules involve staying in high sec space... are those rules you expect people to obey, or recommendations only?
I get a bit of a feeling of "You'll do as I say, in my corp" from you, which is certainly a turn off... but you already told me the corp isn't for you :} I guess I can't help but like a lot of what I see though, so it is hard to turn away without at least giving it a second glance.
Good luck in your recruiting

Cherry:
Players in RESA and in 0.0 do have a great deal of freedom. There is an element of do as I say in every organization. We have reccomendations and strict no-no's.
In RESA starting wars because you want to venture into areas you don't belong is a no-no. Why? Because invariably the noobs can't finish such a war, we don't want ill trained noobs to be victims of war and frankly the staff doesn't want to be involved with wars. Most have 0.0 chars that are more fun to play with. Fighting empire squabbles is not as fun as real pvp in 0.0
In 0.0 a no-no is not defending your space. Lurkers are not permitted. Everyone fights. It is a strict rule. You don't have to pvp daily as in some alliances. But, if 5-20 enemy show up in your sector you best not log off or hide in the station. No one says..."I don't have any pvp ships." That is very bogus. My character is a 50-50 char in 0.0
He mines ARKANOR, BISTOT, etc in his HULK. He hunts rats in his killer raven. He pvp's in his CARACAL, SCORPION & RAVEN.
He is not bored.
There are weekly corporate mining ops. Peeps are expected to mine for corp every 10-14 days.
Beyond that....you can do as you wish.
The new JUMP CLONE skill lets you bounce up to empire to do missions if you like too...and return in an instant. (24 hr minimum stay over)
So, we have rules.
Each alliance claims space as their own...private property.
Every land owner & home owner has rules.
We believe in having fun!
NEXT...we will deploy an OUTPOST.
Alliance has 11.
We'd like to be #12 in a few months.
Cheers!
CB

Originally by: Cold Blade In RESA starting wars because you want to venture into areas you don't belong is a no-no.
Are you talking about Empire space, and is that the reason for the "no low security" rule while in RESA? is that one of the hard set rules then? As I mentioned before, I've been missioning/mining/ratting in a quiet .2 system for a couple weeks, and am friendly with the people there, but I certainly understand about not wanting to start a war for treading on toes.
Perhaps you were referring to wandering in 0.0 space, which I imagine is much more serious than wandering in < .5 in Empire...
I guess what I am asking, is if I joined RESA, would I have to give up low security space missioning?
Originally by: Cold Blade In 0.0 a no-no is not defending your space. Lurkers are not permitted. Everyone fights. It is a strict rule. You don't have to pvp daily as in some alliances. Oh yes! Total agreement from me :) I would feel terribly guilty anyway abandoning my corp mates when we needed to defend ourselves! Besides, though I don't think I'd get any enjoyment out of being a pirate, I know I really enjoyed fighting off the one pirate who managed to warp scramble me so far in my short EVE career :) some PvP would be fun, but I'd rather it be something like defending our space, than trying to ruin someone else's fun pirating them.
My own philosophy about pirates, is that I can't imagine being one, but in a way I am glad they are out there roaming empire low security, because they add an element of challenge, and they teach me to be careful!
Originally by: Cold Blade The new JUMP CLONE skill lets you bounce up to empire to do missions if you like too...and return in an instant. (24 hr minimum stay over)
Oh yes I meant to ask you about jump clones! I am a bit hazy on the requirements for them still. At first I thought all I would need is the informath psychology skill... it was then that I discovered there were standings requirements! 8.0 standing? something like that, with the corp you want to place a clone with? but I have heard different things.. is it a personal 8.0 with the corp, and your corp must also have 8.0 with the corp you want to place a clone at? just a personal 8.0 with the corp you want to place at? just a 8.0 of your corp towards the clone corp? very confusing :( even after reading info on jump clones in other threads, I am still confused about it... but it is something I'm definately interested in.
Those rules about only selling ore to the corp, and not manufacturing in 0.0 space... I have some mixed feelings about, but I don't think I would be heartbroken to put my BPOs in a box to forget about them, at least while out in 0.0 space. Pretty much all the manufacturing I do now is of items I am using on my ships, and I don't manufacture so much to sell lately. Anyway, I payed attention when reading the rules ;) and I'd be prepared to follow them if I joined up.
Outposts... I feel so noobish I don't even know what they are! I only saw on the website that you guys had the first? and now you have 11... with plans for 12? :) All I really know is that they are outragiously expensive :D and obviously more than just a simple POS... perhaps if I scan the forums I will find more info...
Oh, and I checked out the recruitment survey... there are some questions on it I would rather not answer :\ a/s/l for instance (I really prefer to keep my RL and online life seperate) and probably a cardinal sin to you guys... but I'm just not willing to let people hear my voice... no teamspeak. would that disqualify me from joining? I know what an important PvP tool it is, but it is just a line I am not willing to cross.
Anyway, I have rambled to my limit! thank you for listening.

Quick bump.
Also, I would like to say that since I've joined RESA I couldn't be any happier. I right away felt that I'm part of this tightly knit family of dedicated players that are friendly and fun to be with. We indeed are a great crew to work with, be it mining or mission running, ratting or just plain chatting on TS! Of course, the possibility of graduating to 0.0 is a major plus!
If it isn't fun, why play?

Thanks!
Recently, a member of RESA lost their battleship to a pirate gang while doing a high level mission.
The response was that about a dozen peeps pitched in and donated stuff and did a mining op to replace his bs in one day! Bravo members of RESA! Great TEAM SPIRIT! I can't take credit for such generosity, but I can applaud it!
BTW same thing happened in AWE yesterday. This morning AWE peeps are sponsoring a mining op to replace a member's BS...bravo!
LOOKING FOR A GOOD TEAM? JOIN RESA and graduate to AWE!
Great peeps in both places!

Hi, I like your website and the stuff about the corp. I'm concerned about the reference to John 3:16 contained in the Research Associates Corp Description. Is this a Religious organization? If it is do you have to be a practicing Christian to join. Do you tolerate souls that do not share your beliefs? It just seem so in appropriate in such a diverse game as EVE.
Thanx......

HI there!
I am a born again Christian. If you are, great.
However, we are like the United States. Be whatever you choose to be. Freedom to worship or not worship is yours. I can't recall a spiritual discussion taking place even on our forums or team speak. It does not really come up. If it did, I am sure I would hear a variety of responses. I know one guy who is an agnostic-atheist person. He is one of our most valued players. He is also my best friend since high school.
JOHN 3:16 reference is my way of reccomending to peeps that they consider that...God so loved the world that he gave His only Son that none should perish, but that all would have eternal life."
If anyone wanted to talk to me about God, that would be fine. So far...we talk about the game, our personal family lives & fun stuff generally.
Whereas I am not ashamed of God and my relationship to my Lord Jesus Christ, it is certainly not a requirement nor a topic of discussion in RESA nor AWE.
RESA is looking for generous, team oriented players.
RESA is the pathway to 0.0 space, not a destination.
The destination is www.a-w-e.org
You are invited to join RESEARCH ASSOCIATES and travel south in 60 days or less depending upon your skill points and readiness.
Your call.
You are invited...
