Ok so I read this in the Patchlog:
"Secure cargo containers are now only secure when anchored in space."
Does this mean that if I'm flying along with my items in a secure can in my cargo hold and a gate-camping pirate kills me he can open my secure container? That kind of makes them a bit less useful, in my mind.

That's the idea behind it.
Ciao, Aronis!

you have too look at it in the pirate point of view as well.
Otherwise the pirates will be pretty much extinct very soon. --- soonÖ |

Just to add my 2 cents here. Secure containers are just about the lamest thing to happen in Eve. Nothing should be "secure" you take the risk out of the game you are removing a lot of what makes the game interesting and challenging.
Also they litter the damn game world and they're everywhere, and they're never going away until CCP changes how they work. I can't wait to all that can spam is GONE. ------

This is bullcrap.
Oh well, guess I'll have to move my stuff through the blockades before next patch then

Edited by: Chucky on 11/09/2003 14:44:31 I don't see much the difference unless it was a random griefing, how secure containers are in FD-MLJ anyway? It would help with boredom to shoot at secure containers all day with tachyons. They eventually do open. Remember to Self-destruct at Blockades you can get away from, that destroys your cargo too and pirates don't get any richer.
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

From what I understand with the latest patch notes the secure containers won't be secure after a 2 hour period without the owner. That way secure containers can be cleaned up.

Sadly Jim, almost every ship on the sea has a safe of one kind or another.
I understand your point of view partly, but I dont think that the cans are a bad idea, I think the lack of skills to open them was a bad idea along with invulnerability, and extra space.
Secure cans should have less space in them, due to their protection, and miners should get some kind of force-field protected mass-dumping ground that requires Anchoring instead.
I understand both points of view, but making the people that buy the containers have to buy another set of skills to be able to drop them from the ship to mine without it disappearing is kinda sad. PS Buying 135k of item to have disappear in 2hrs due to a mistake is kinda harsh don't you think?
I think you were more upset there was no way to get into/destroy them.
I think this is a pretty poor idea, it puts (again) all the emphasis on the users of the cans, and none on those wanting to open them.
Don't you honestly think that is a little one sided?

i wouldn't really count it as an evil ploy to get rid of the signs. more of a benevolent ploy... |
