I've searched through the forums, read a couple of manuals on EW and experimented a bit, but still have not found a solution to this:
Recently upgraded to Ferox from Merlin - Outfitted it with Heavy Launchers and 250mm and a NOS - just testing different configs.
In .5 space, rats I could kill easily in the Merlin with little jamming, seem to jam the Ferox consistently (one class of rats). Granted, they cannot bust through the shields, but its annoying to poke around (even with AB) and never get a lock. If I warp away then back, I might get a lock on one and quickly destroy it - before the others in the pack lock me down.
I have tried a couple of ECCM devices, with no discernable difference. So, for simply NPC purposes, whats the easiest way to counter this (if any) - other than warping back and forth?

ECCM Gravimetric (active/mid slot) and Gravimetric Sensor Backup Arrays (passive/low slot) should be able to do the job. Of course, I'm not sure how many ships you have jamming you at one time, and that would certainly be a factor...
Evil Overlord Rule #20 Despite its proven stress-relieving effect, I will not indulge in maniacal laughter. |

Thanks - I have not tried either of those. Currently have an Omni Positional ECCM Sensor - even with only 1 jamming, I was locked down.

If it's NPC's doing the jamming I don't think you can do much about it other than wait for them to stop....
I'm guessing they were Gursitas. |

Jammers really enjoy drones and FoF missiles.

No need to fit an Omni - just the right type for your ship's sensors. I believe Caldari ships use Gravimetric sensors, so as Blaise suggested, fit a Gravimetric ECCM module or Sensor Backup Array. Cheaper in fitting and cap useage.
With NPC rats, they rarely jam you again after their initial attempt, so you may find it easier to fit for a tank and wait the 20-30 seconds it takes for the jam to wear off, then shoot them.

Edited by: Korobarr on 23/03/2006 19:37:07 Thanks for the input - they are Guristas and they seem to jam continuously. I have used the AB to try and get out of range (which seems to be >22KM for the NPCs), but they have no trouble staying close in their frigates. Since they cannot do much damage to the shields, I have dinked around for over 10 minutes, never able to get a lock unless I warp out and return...Annoying little buggers.
I have since tried one of the ECCM gravimetric devices (mid slot) with little discernable affect. The one I tried also requires a lock so its semi-self defeating it would seem.
I don't have the skills (yet) for FoF missles - might try a drone or two though...

Then the one you treid is ment to boost the sensors of a gangmate, that's why it needs targeting.
Look for the "ECCM- Gravimetric I" module and try that one.

Thanks for the info, I figured I must have grabbed the wrong one - so many options . Of course its the depth of the game that I find appealing, so thats a good thing.
I trained FoF as well and picked up a few of those and some drones as well - will take them all for a test drive later.

Ive noticed its mostly the frigs who do the jamming so one thing you might want to try is smartbombs (tip do not use them in a .5 or higher system or with buddies around) |
