I have a gallente spec'd character (Specialize!!! is the modern EVE mantra)
This means that a lot of my skill points have gone into drones and hybrids.
It kind of irks me that the ship damage bonus is split between turrets and missiles. It irks me most that to use the ship to it's full potential I would probably have to train up some missile skills, something I have no desire to do.
Am I missing something? Are there really cool setups for people who dont want to use missiles?

Well all the "red" gallente ships seem to like Missiles in some form. That, and I think the base hull (Celestis) also uses missiles reasonably well. --

Maybe use medium nosf instead of missile launchers if youre going for a close/medium range setup?
Missiles 4tl tbh -------

How can you complain about having missile bonuses on the Lachesis? Part of the back story of the ship, goes towards missiles or launchers in general.
The Lachesis has missiles launchers, as its a Celestis (also with launchers) Hull design, one might think this is just continuing in that same thread.
But if you were going for this strong of a ship anyway, and there are many others, why would you choose this one over any of the others, -if- you didn't already use missiles?
For me, a Gallente drone using, missile launching, EW-ing, mission running industrialist, the fact that the Lachesis allows me to have my launchers, use EW, and has a rather large drone bay; makes this the relative ship of my dreams.
I hope that you decide to keep it, and spend a couple of days training up some missile skills. Its all relative anyway. There's lots of other setups that you could use, even if you are losing out on some of the bonuses.
At least you have a kickin' ship and the ability to use it to just about anything. Turrets, Missiles, Drones, EW, Mining (heaven forbid), or cruising around the universe scanning moons. Whatever floats your boat...I see this ship as way past versatile.
I hope that I didn't come off as harsh or anything. Its just...well I love this ship. And I'd rather have people enjoy its abilities, than be sad at its apparent differences. Let's not hate the ship for being what it was made to be...a drone controlling, missile launcher toting, scramble/web/NOSing, happy machine.
Good luck with your ship...if you decide you don't like it, I'll take it!! I could always use another.

Its one of the ships oddities, the other being its 10% to warp disrutptor range, changing a 20k to a dark blood variant is a bit weak compared to the curse/pilgrims bonii (40% nos range/60% web range).
The disruptor bonus should be 20% tbh, giving a 20k disruptor 36k range at level 4 ---------------------------------------------------- (22:01:14) (Sangxianc) you, porro, have madder skillzors than i, sang, do

Cause they are on ships of races who dont use missiles as their primary weapons and have mostly sucky missile skills. Add to that that its split weapon systems which missiles users dont like aswell? (current hawk anyone?)

I haveb a Lachesis, but i'm not specced in Gallente, I can fly all the races, I have decent missile skills, but above that I prefer them to any other weapon, and I think the sensor damp, warp disruptor thing indicates the ship is designed for long range, and there's nothing better at long range than missiles. Huh. There may be some problems with the Lachesis (and Arazu), namely the fact that the warp scramble range bonus is a bit lacking compared to the other races' recons... but the missile hardpoints are not a problem. In fact, I wish the Arazu has missiles instead of turrets.
It's not like it's a huge chore to raise basic missile skills to 4 (just did it myself), and it opens up a lot of new options.
Pink missile ships 4tw!

Would have loved that boat but with almost 10mil sp in gunnery and under 10k in missiles. I ain't touching it. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Thats a good point.
The curse can nos further than that with recon level 4.
It seems the jack of all trades and master of none. A ship with a wcs or two will still warp away and in 0.0 an interdictor is a generation ahead.

Edited by: elorran on 23/03/2006 12:20:21 To the contrary, an interdictor is also limited and can still cripple itself with its own warp disruption probes.
Each ship has to be taken in its own way, but regardless a competant pilot should be able to make effective use of both vessels.

The Lachesis is kinda horrible, I have 500k in Missles, main missle skills at 3 and all the support skills at 1 or 2, and i can't be arsed training them since being Gallente focused i've focused on Hybrids. Not only does it have crap damage output, but it can't tank worth a damn, unless you shield tank it, which is dumb.
The Arazu is superior in all aspects, not only can it do the warp scrambling thing at the same range as the Lachesis, you can fly around unseen, how great is that?! It can also mount a tank with its 4 low's as opposed to the Lachesis' 3 Lows.
sigh, poor Lachesis, its looks pretty cool for a space shrimp -----
Hi TomB! All out Do or Die Blasterboat for tier 3 Gallente battleship please! Make it look cool too. Thanks. |

I don't want them to fix my Eris "Sacrilege" style, it's bad enough.
I might just take up flying the Sabre full time, it can actually perform a decent anti-ceptor/frig role.
Edit: omgz can't spell.
