who needs jammers when you are out of your lock range or you have too much poor tracking _____________________________ They say that when the Greeks were creating civilization, the others were living in caves. Today I feel like living in a cave while the others live in a civilization |

We have this nice EW discussion/change thread in shps&modules forums about this thing called EW.
Maybe try and post there ?
Btw, posting "I say X" isn't going to get you a good thread. It's normally conducive to a good discussion to present an argument
But, since we're in the opinion stating buisiness now anyway.
I don't agree fully.

Considering how much people carry on about the fact that fights are too short, ships die too fast and we have a 6 or 7 page thread about nerfing concentrated firepower the whole EW is overpowered thing just doesn't stack up for me.
It's a very effective way of limiting your opponent's firepower for sure but surely that's a good thing because of the fact it helps to prolong fights.

No, it's not. It's powerful enough that you can't really afford to ignore it, in much the same way as you can't really afford to ignore how to tank, or how to gank, or how to snipe.
Basically, EW is situational - ECMs are cap hungry, and not 100% reliable.
Damps aren't always a win - you need several to 'lock down' a single target.
Tracking disruptors are powerful, but again, only if you're engaging close to the limits of their tracking or close to the limits of their optimal. And again, aren't a lock down, if they have missile launchers (which lets face it, most ships can fit) then there's still pain to be had.
EW specialist ships trade off for their EWar, and generally have really poor high slot layouts, or flimsy shield/armour, or both.
Add to this that EW uses mid slots, which are useful for: Afterburners, cap recharges, shield tank, sensor boosters, tracking computers, cap boosters, warp scramblers and webbers.
Well, ok, warp scramblers and webbers are EW. I don't think they're overpowered either though :) -- We are recruiting

basiclly. NO EW is not overpowered n any way at all. You need to have decent skills to completely Target Jam a ship. Not only is it not overpowered. Most time there is a ship with EW its a scorp and f you cant tank the damage a scorp is dealing long enough for its jamming to stop then tbh. you shouldnt be in the ship. Basiclly nothing in the game is overpowered it just depends on luck and if you think quickly. So tbh just live with it if you die casue you get jammed then haha why didnt you warp off? its a game. you shouldnt complain about the way its made. I mean if you were the jammer you wouldnt be complaining would you
so like if you complain about jamming. i hope someone jams you and keeps you scrambled for a long long time so you die slowly. ----------------------------------------------- Pimp daddy 'G |

All I want from EW is a module that screws over anything coming out of launcher hardpoints, just like the tracking disruptor does for turret highslots. It's quite annoying not having any viable defense against missile spammers.

When they brought in the chance-based thing for EW, I thought it seemed like a pretty cool idea. After a fair bit of experience in the field, however, I think I preferred the old system. It made more sense, and stuff based on random dice rolls just feels wrong for Eve.

its anoying that you get jammed and cant shoot, but it makes the game more intresting, becasue peeps like you dont complain when you or a other mate i space jam a other person and gank them, works both ways, if they nerf jamming it will become obsoleet (cant spell) and recon ships will loose half there use
will kill anythin for the right price |

Defender missiles are arguably the new damage control units imo.
Also, even if those work like they were intended, they don't even come close to the effectiveness of tracking disruptors.

Smartbombs.
very effective vs a domi Drone ships are the only ones that have potential to do pretty much full damage - all they need is a lock for a second at the start of a fight.

I personally think the EW situation is fine. There is plenty to counter EW. ie, having jammers urself, fof's, drones (if ur quick) etc. And most ships have to sacrifice a lot of tanking slots for EW leaving themselves very vulnerable to quick ganking. ! thing i would say is that there is way too much complainnig on these forums. i love playing this game and very rarely have i said "god i hate that it's raelly annoying, wish they'd change it". The game i very well balanced atm imo and doing so must be a hell of a task. WCS/EW/certain races being nerfed. it still rocks and i love combat. if someone beats me through something then i either learn to defend it or use it myself.

Why... because they jamm the target (like they're suppose to?)
Ok then.. Shield boosters are overpowered.. i can't believe they repair your shields, what silly idea..
I use to fly a scorpion class battleship once in a while, full EW fit, no shield boosters, no armor reps so... EW was my only defence, just like some pilots have shield booster for their defence. so instead of Adapt, Overcome or be creative, if you encounted EW a lot.. come up with solution for it... or wait thats not right, CCP game is not doing what i want it to do change it now (excuse the sarcasm )

I tend to agree that jamming is overpowered. TWENTY SECONDS is a VERY long time to loose out in a fight. --

Yup, especially considering jamming is random.

My point exactly (with added sarcasm). It seems like some people are looking for a ship that can take on everything in game, but in reality this would not happen. yes EW is hard to defend against for most but that's life. people who use solid EW are taking a big risk if alone as a group or 3 or 4 will probably kill him with ease. i don't want the game to be too safe and rigid. there should be a ship that when alone makes you go whhhooooo and leave quickly and for most that's a scorp. unless i'm in raven with fof cruise :)
