The people paying for the contract know what E-R does and it's what they want to be done (apparently, otherwise they would give the contract to people who fight in a different style). E-R are not a megablob to go head to head with ASCN and they are not suicidal 100% of the time. What they are is a highly mobile group that can force them to commit more forces to the defence of their homeland. It's true that this won't set back ASCN much. The point you are all missing though is that in order for it not to set them back, they will need to devote some pilots to camp poor little E-R. If they don't it WILL set them back, as E-R will be free to gank at will and slowly but gradually damage their infrastrucure. Last time i was raiding down there with them, in the middle of the G/Iron vs ASCN clash, they couldn't spare the pilots to use against us and it started to have results. There was intel from their internal forums suggesting that some POS's in an outpost system (R97-CI i think) were running low on fuel due to the attacks. Attacks that lasted a mere couple of weeks mind you, maybe less, effectively showing that no matter how small the member count of the raiding force you need to devote some of your guys to making their life difficult. In short, if they want to be able to NPC,mine and do all those nifty little empire building tricks, they will have to assign some PvPers against E-R. Judging by the way things play out in this game when a small mobile force is raiding a bigger entity, they will probably employ much more people than the raiding force, either out of necessity to counter the hit and run tactics, or out of a desire to "get it over with fast". In any case that ties up valuable manpower and resources that they won't be able to employ on another theater of operations. Who knows, maybe some corps residing in the north were fed up with the ASCN guys hanging around torrinos I think i don't need to say more, making sense is deemed a hostile act by many on these forums Originally by: Black Lotus I vote u for KIA spokesperson.
