What is the purpose of this ship? It has a special ability to not get attacked by sleepers but why is that even remotely useful and how can i use it other than just starting the despawn timer for a site in a wormhole |

It looks cool. Its got bits that rotate, and other bits that seem to float behind the main sail.
It was free. Sounds like you're checking the teeth of that gift horse you received.

You won't understand the use of it fully unless you live in wormholes a while. It's to make bookmarks..... Yeah...
Also, to trigger a site in a wormhole, all you need to do is initiate warp to it, you don't have to actually warp to the site, which saves a lot of time. |

well some inventive individual might take the opportunity to set some 200km BMs in the complex before going in as well as other tactical things like dropping a BM on an objective or priority target spawn
I guess the advantage is, its faster than doing it in a pod The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

It was a free gift. CCP don't want to give free ships which will damage the player-run economy (at the moment), so free ships will have niche roles, or no real role. Zephyr lets you tool around W-space and enjoy the view. Similarly, the Primae was some crazy PI-transport ship, until they realised what a great hull it was, and turned it into the Noctis.
There was no such demand for the Zephyr hull, as cool as a space sail was. |

That seems to me like a breach of protocol.

It's just a special holiday ship released for Apocrypha, free for all the subbed accounts at the time. At the time it was designed to have very low skill requirements, so anyone could go and have a look at the shiny new wormhole space without risk from the very dangerous (At the time) NPCs. |

It's also suppused to give a chance to check the *live develop* of current game history, if you check the eve fiction part of the forums( at least in the old ones) there is a threadnaught about the sleepers/talocan and all the things that really are going on in WH that not one has figured properly yet. |

Some fleets use a Zephyr to get close to sleepers with their blaster boats. Have the Zephyr close on the sleeper, then the fleet warps in.
Also, being fast, agile and small its had to scan out and catch.
Edit: also its part of the back story. It has sensors that reported back to the Sanshas, allowing them to learn how to manipulate wormholes and do their incursions. CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. Subscribers can never answer a question posed to CCP. Only CCP can. |

What they haven't figured out they seem to have made up. It's damn hard to tell which posts in that thread a complete works of fiction (player fiction, as opposed to developer fiction).

Once, when I lived in WH space the late night shift slipped up and lost a fleet to a site. Since they didn't have the numbers to refit and finish the site (early trigger so too many BS at that point), they used some Zephyrs to loot the wrecks without taking aggro from the sleepers. |

The Zephyr has plenty of unique usages. Unlike the Primae and Echelon which I really cannot see any point in using for anything beyon shuttle duty. Mr. Science & Trade Institute, EVE Online Lorebook-á |
