I keep hearing on these forums stuff like "I was in my cruiser and I ran into a lone frig, that guy went down really easily"
Not like "I was in my cruiser and I ran into a lone frig, I locked him, then 4 BS warped in and wasted me" which is pretty much what happens in my game.
So am I just having really bad luck (I've never ran into a group in low sec that consists of less than 2 BS) or what?

I think its a combination of bad luck and not being careful.
You have to make sure that those who you are attacking aren't prepared to take you out. And be ready to get out when necessary.

Yeah piracy is interesting. From the perspective of the bear it seems that pirates can just sit there enjoy a tasty stream of defenseless ships coming through, but most of the time whatever jumps through that gate will be bigger and badder than you. I would advise useing the eve map, and finding areas where there are lots of ships in space, but not many ships killed. IF your lucky you will find a gate to camp with a steady stream of miners and NPCers coming through.
Its worth remembering that lone frigs are pretty rare, since frigates usually make up a unit of a larger fleet (often as a scout).

gate camping = ISK
belt hunting = thrill, satisfaction, and risk
but i agree, belt hunting ftw. nothing better than spending 30 mins hunting a single NPC'ing cruiser, then shreading it up in 30 seconds and hearing the pod squish. job satisfaction ftw

Just keep looking. Sometimes we have nearly continous fights, sometimes we need to roam around to just find one frigate to kill.

One thing to remember is that each region is different. Some regions are almost empty, others have heavy populations. In some regions stab use is widespread, others not so much. The same thing also applies to what ship classes people fly. -Wrayeth

I read this post and for once in my whole life I honestly felt a little bit of guilt. It only lasted about 20 seconds... but let me give you a few pointers.
#1. You need to pick your targets based on what you feel comfortable fighting. Shooting at people who are below -5 insures that you are taking on someone who is PvP experienced and may very well kill you.
#2. You need to pay attention to local politics. It isn't wise to attack corps in their home territory for your "first" PvP fights.
#3. You need to coordinate your configs more. The daredevil with ECM was a nice touch but both the raven and the ferox were configed for tank and didn't have the DPS to kill my megathron.
#4. Don't make up stories about people attacking you in the belts etc to try and get help. That is the kind of stuff that gets your whole corp set to -10 very quickly.
Don't take this as a flame. If you want to sort out that little "misunderstanding" as you put it then convo me in game. However this time be honest, the raven pilot who jumped into Assietess and started claming that your ferox and daredevil had been killed by pirates in asteroid belts well you were mining made the issue a little bit more then a "misunderstanding" in our eyes.

I also had no idea that my corpmate had made up a story. But you have to understand, before we came here we were told that it was a "safe" system and anyone with -5.0 or less would be killed, and we were NOT informed of you being friendly, so how were we to know?
Anyway I can understand you destroying my ship but I think the podkill was a bit extreme, but I'm not going to moan about it.
What are you talking about me asking for help in local btw? I never asked for help, I was asking wtf you were doing because I thought we had sorted it out the night before considering that everyone in local seemed to be cool and we weren't attacked, plus you'd already destroyed my ship. Anyway we don't really care if the corps based in that system set us to -10 has we have no interest in it anymore.
You might not care but I have no hard feelings and cheers for the advice.

Oh can I just add, I have no intention of being a pirate, I was actually trying to be anti-pirate, probably why I'm having some trouble finding people because I only attack low sec.
lunafaerie was the raven pilot who was asking for help in local in Assietess, not you. Sorry if I misspoke.
My post honestly wasn't intended as a flame. I posted because I do care. I don't want you too get discouraged with PvP. You guys put up a valiant fight.
We can sort the standings bit and any of your memebers that want to learn how to be effective PvPers/anti-pirates we could take them along on some ops and help teach them some of the basic group layouts (for configs), etc.
:) Its your call, no hard feelings on my end.

That would be cool.
I am up for some PvP advice. I don't really want to be on the pirate course though, more anti-pirate as so many have attempted to kill me in the past.
Would be much appreciated if you're willing. The ferox is the best ship I can fly atm, but I can't bring myself to go into one right now as I've lost 4 in the last 3 days.

Edited by: Niques Leutre on 27/03/2006 00:02:27 All those kills you hear about were probably in Old Man Star (0.4 System). Gallente newbies get missions into there, and it contains an unusually high number of pirates for that kind of region (probably due to the missions mentioned above).
It's actually not unusual to see cruisers and battleships from time to time hunting down day old frigate newbies, or even rookie ships. I guess they're just greifers or they're farming negative rep to look tough.

Yeah.. do your research before shooting... I landed next to a guy in a Jaguar with a negative sec status, so I attacked and killed him with my Claw, only to find out seconds later that he was in one of the corps we were going to make an alliance with..... for some reason his standing hadn't been set to +10... it was just 0, lol

Hey,
Join corps like Tundragon for easy kills. These uber pvpers sit in .4 and lower due to having no security rating above -5.0...due to tanking sentries and popping people that fly through those systems. To top that off they normaly try to jam people.
About the lamest thing in the EVE world is want to be pvpers like these. However some people get kills anyway they can.I suggest you join corps like these for "easy" kills.

Hey,
The fact is I don't care what you DID and I'm sure if I looked at kb you been camping low sec gates longer than 2 weeks. So don't start the "we used to" rsponses.I hope to god teddy bears are not still in your ranks. What are you doing now though?Ganking noobie and people in empire, while tanking. LAME
Also I have hard time beleiving that you ger your sec rating down to -10.00 and then go to 0.0 to kill all the time.I mean you don't or can't even war dec empire corps due to the fact I bet 95% can't go in empire higher than .4.So you sit everyday same spot killing noobies and such.Your cool and man it makes you look uber.
Facts are facts.Sorry they hurt you so much. You want respect from anyone other than yourselfs telling each other your uber. Then fight real people, make damage known.Show facts of your 1 vs 1's, your alliances killed or +% ratio's. As of late.
Until stfu and keep ganking empire dwellers.

I am probably just waisting my time by arguing with you, but when people shoot off their mouths without ANY facts AT ALL with an ALT,I tend to get really excercised, so here goes.
You simply have no idea what you are talking about. Have you ever been to Syndicate? have you ever seen one of their ops? Didn't think you had, because if you HAD seen them, then you wouldn't be shooting off your mouth. You would know to keep it shut, because you would have the facts.
Exotic Dancers Club may gatecamp sometimes, but when I was on trial membership with them, there was a lot of fleet-fighting and small-group ops, where we would fight an enemy that outnumbered us 3 or 4 to 1 (as in, COMBAT FLEET vs COMBAT FLEET, not just mining barges). We frequently went up against anti-pirate corporations (usually the same ones) and won against them, despite being outnumbered and outgunned.
Exotic Dancers Club is one of the best 0.0 pirate/PvP corps out there, so next time you shoot off your mouth about something, make sure you have facts. Engaging keyboard before brain is NOT a good idea.
I will be more than happy to continue this debate ingame if you wish. _________________________________________ 2005.01.17 22:04:22 combat Chackle [PUSY] perfectly runs from you, wrecking for 1500 cowardice. |
