Ok....this is a bit stupid. I did lvl4 courier missions, as a shortcut to better standings. But then I got a "kill" storyline mission. This is a problem because I cant complete lvl3 missions by myself in my little cruiser.
So my situation is the following: I have a pending "Shipyard Theft". If I accept it I have no chance of completing, thus bad. If I decline I will (if understood correctly) lose standings....and considering the size of that mission, its gonna take like one to serveral weeks to work back.
Its also deep in amarr space, so noone seems to be able to help me, even if they get all I get from the mission. My corp has its ships long out in 0.0, so thats not an option.
Point taken, I will not do anymore missions on a level that I cannot support in fight. But what should I do in this case?

U can actually decline it without losing standings. U could even let it run out of time, without losing standings. Only loss u have is u dont get standings from completing mission.

If you accept the mission and fail it then you will lose standings. If you just decline the mission you will not lower your standings.

Alternatively, you can just ask someone in local to come help you and finish it.

So this is true even for storyline missions? Will I get a new storyline mission, or will it just be gone?

It will be gone, however every 16 missions u get a new storyline mission, which again gives u a new chance to get faction standings. Again this mission can be declined, u just dont gain the standingsboost.
In general u can decline 1 mission for every agent once every 4 hrs. If u do this then no faction loss will occur.
