Hey all
I recently had a crazy idea for the faction wars in kali.
What if one of the races went extinct? It wouldnt have any major benefit other than an interesting storyline within eve.
The race that will most likely be chosen (if it happens wich i highly doubt anyways) are teh minmatar. Their government is weak. and they have a huge enemie: the amarr...
The amarr flood the minmatar regions and most of them flee too gallente space. Ofcourse the existing minmatar will keep flying around and for example ushra'khab will become an resistance force deep within Amarr space.
The amarr, now 2 regions richer. have to divide their forces wich weakens them. Thus giving a force constisting of gallente/remaining minmatar to conquer the 2 regions back and maybe an extra region. Due to teh timespan the minmatar and the gallente have mixed up and a new race appears taking control over the new area wich they got from the gallente.
Ofcourse the minmatar ships and skill stay ingame. only noone has starter skills for them, No extra benefit for training them either wich will make anything minmatar rare.
The new race could be slowly developing new ships of their own in the same order as it went from the start of eve (i dont know how it went wasnt around back than) but soemthing like they first design a couple frigs and cruiser, maybe a battleship. slowly adding more and more ships to that with mixed technology from the other races. until they have the same amount of ships.
Well as i said i cant see anything practical on this... but it would be damn awesome. ans since the minnie race cant be chosen anymore the minmatars themselves will become rare encounters.
It involves massive development stuff on ccp's side. but than again it would also give another first to EVE and betya people who dont know the game will like it.
Anyways lemme hear what ya think :P

What about the people who picked minne for liking them where will they get there skill. Will matari ships/bpos be phased out? Do all matari get there skills in their ships/equipment changed to the new races? I for one don't like this idea.

Some points:
1. The storyline for the War, bar dynamic and player driven content is most likely already decided.
2. If you take out 1 race it lessens the variety for new players. If you add a new one then the variety for new players is not increased, but the Dev-s need to do extra work because they are now creating content for 5 races, lowering the quality all in all.

Kinda hard. There is already a big amount of storyline content, missions and so on regarding the Minmatar, and I can't see CCP wanting to throw it all away.

No all the minmatar ships, skills and content stays ingame just like the chars. They will still be buyable/buildable but not sold at many locations (some stations in gallente space and some stations in lowsec)
Since a new race is added and the old ones stay variety will increase.
But ofcourse its kinda hard to just throw away all the future content for a race. maybe something for in the future, after kali.
But i still think it would give EVE another edge, a storyline wich really affects the game like the old stories i hear about (crielere and the cloaking device)
But on a much bigger scale. I havent heard of any mmorpg with such a storyline anyways.

A major race? Um.
A minor race? Saay, the Ammatar look like they're kinda between two warring Empires...

Ammatar is part of the amarr empire, they are salves who think theyre teh bomb so theyll do everything the amarr say. no reason why they would be wiped out.
The minmatar on the other hand do have a big problem with the unstabel government and a huge enemy as the amarr empire. tho you could give it some weird twist like the jovians deciding that amarr smell bad and wiping em out... but since they own 40% of space, whose gonna take it over?
