looking for nice Imicus set ups.
Mainly for missions/pirates in .5 space and such.
Also, a good fast courier mission set up.

For courier: 1MN Microwarpdrive 1 Small Cap Battery 2 Nanofiber Internal Structure OR Expanded Cargohold (as required)
Fast and has enough cap to warp across any system you may encounter.
For combat I'd suggest the biggest rails you can fit, afterburner, cap mod, repairer and a resistance mod. Three drones plus the rails should allow you to keep some distance while fighting. Not the best combat ship around though...

The Imicus is primarily a mining frigate. Its decent for courier missions, but you are better off with an Incursus or a Tristan for combat.

Greetings,
Centurin might be right in regards to the Imicus and combat. Though its bonuses would seem to suggest otherwise it might be better suited as a mining ship. However, I can see it being ok at fighting NPC's. I was looking at a setup like below. I still might use it since the large cargo bay will mean I can stay out hunting for almost twice as long as some of the other frigates. I also love the drones in this game so it lets me play with 3 while I wait the long wait for a cruiser
Imicus Setup
HiSlots: 2 x 125mm Carbide Railgun I
MidSlots: 1 x ECM Module I (Racial) 1 x Cap Recharger I
LowSlots: 1 x Small I-a Polarized Armor Regenerator 1 x 50mm Reinforced Nanofiber Plates I
3 x Light Drones, maybe HobGoblins
I imagine that if you focused more on drone skills in the beginning this ship would become pretty powerful against NPC's. Sorta like a mini Vexor from what I have read elsewhere on these forums.

I prefer to use the Imicus for hauling stuff around but it can fight NPCs. The setup proposed is about right although I think I tend to go with 75mm guns on mine and spend the power on the shields. The drones will be key. IIRC, it was fine for belt NPCs down to 0.6, which was a little challenging, and 0.5 was really dicey, didn't really work. Your mileage may vary.
Which is to say a Tristan is far far better - other than worrying about player pirates a Tristan can handle himself well in 0.4 and even below. I think even an Atron is a better fighter if you are budget limited. The Imicus is nice for three drones if you have the skills to take advantage of them, and for having a better cargo capacity than the other frigates. If the drone skills arent there, it wont be a good fighter.

Oh, I fly a Vexor and it aint a mini Vexor...
If anything, its a mini Exequeror. A very mini one.

Hmm, interesting Prant. I was going mainly by the ship descriptions since I am just sitting here waiting... and waiting... and waiting some more for skills to finish. I was commenting more on the 5% to drone damage then anything else.
Hopefully I will get out and try some of this stuff out... *looks impatiently at character sheet*

The 5% to drone damage probably helps you use the drones for mining (it presumably applies to mining drones too) and gives some help you are while mining and using them to defend you, which is a good idea.
