Not sure where this topic goes.
Every time i go to creat a new charecter and i am about to set aname. it freezes and the game restarts every time.
I have retried 9 times.I am not sure what to do about it. I have cleared my cache foilder and everything. Even when i first started playing, i had the same problm. I had to retry about 18 times.
Is there an answer to this ?

I think it has to do with the name you're trying to use being taken. That appears what was the issue for me...
When you're name is taken, it disconnects you from the server and forces you to start over. They could have put a simple, friendly message along the lines of 'this name is already in use', but apparently that would make too much sense...

I've done alot of testing around char creation, and I have not seen this particular problem occur (however, watching my client close for no apparent reason when selecting a Jin Mei during the Blood testing phase was entertaining in a perverse way). Could I ask you to please file a bugreport including a logfile and any .dmp file created when this occurs.

I got the same problem yesterday. Only happened once to me though. The other time around i got the "this name is taken" message instead. But it definately seemed to be connected to the name check.

probably you have ping issues, and getting a disconnect in creation process.
happened to me with my cable connection a lot

When I created this character, it took me about five times creating the exact same character portrait, name, attributes, etc. The first four times disconnected me after typing the characters name and clicking next, the last time disconnected me after selecting my initial custom attributes (I think). I finally got the character created, without changing anything other than slight changes to the portrait. The only message I got, if I remember correctly, was a server timed out message.

yah.. there's definitely some issues there as the client restarted for me a couple times when I was creating a new khanid character. Not sure if it's tied to anything and haven't done any further testing..

I had the same problem, but it seemed like the server was timing out, if I took to long making the character.
It only happen after clicking next after inputing my name, then the client would reset.
It took me about 5 time to make this character :(
I found if u go bk and fourth when making ur character if u are taking a while on a certain stage, its less liking to crash teh client.

Yeah, its fairly annoying to make a character when its times out so much. Especially when you are trying for a specific appearance.

I've gotten disconnects during the character creation process, but I had figured it was due to communication between the client and the server timing out since I wasn't "logged in" to any specific character.

Well this even started with my first charecter as well. Was a pain in the A#$ the first time.but this is rediculous. I will most likely create a new charecter or i might not.but one thing i noticed.
When i went to make a charecter useing the random generated one. it let me use what ever namei wanted. so i created useing the comp generated charecter and it was fully created. So i deleted it and created my own chaecter similar to my first creation. And it went through. i got things like, charecter is in use.
But i found a little loop hole around it for now.

Me too.
I discovered if you spend too much time crafting the facial features of your character you get disconnected from server, and it doesn't take long.
The trick is to advance a few steps, like the attr. screen, then go back and re-edit your character, then go forward, so on so forth till you get what you want.

Same.
If I take more than a certain amount of time (around five minutes methinks) before the Name Select stage the client restarts when I try to move on (after typing a name). Best way I found to deal with this was to take your time making the portrait, roughly remember the options then whip through it second time round...

Yea, that seems to be the best bet. I dont want to start over with a new charecter, so i will stick with this one. : \

Jin-Mei are Chinese, Achura are Japanese.
But yeah, considering how long it takes to create a good character portrait, this is a pretty evil bug.

Of course, assuming this only occurs with Jin-Mei, I'm not sure that's relevant...it's IMPOSSIBLE to create a good Jin-Mei portrait
