The EVE Forum Moderator Team is now accepting applications for Moderators. The EVE Forum Moderator Team is known as Communications Relay Commission and is a part of the EVE Volunteer Program known as Interstellar Services Department. We monitor the EVE Message Boards to make sure the Forum Rules are followed, while interacting with the community. Having English as your first language is not a requirement!
Requirements:
- Good communication skills including good written skills.
- Active participation in the discussions on the EVE Message Boards.
- A minimum of 3 months playing EVE.
- No forum bans issued, a low amount of warnings may be accepted.
- Experience using IRC is prefered but not a requirement. We ask you
to include your experience with IRC somewhere in the application.
- 18 years of age is a minimum, older is a merit.
Living in an US timezone (North or South America, or speaking one of the languages below is considered a plus, though itÆs not a requirement:
- German
- French
- Russian
- Spanish
- Portuguese
You do not have to have to be an expert in English, but you will have to know enough to communicate with it. You do not have to have any of these languages as your first language, but you have to be able to read and understand it enough to moderate, using a dictionary as help is acceptable.
A well written application is a big plus! We look at other things as well, but good application has a better chance.
You can apply by clicking the ôInterstellar Svcs Deptö button under ôEVE INSIDERö in the menu to your left. If you have already submitted an application please update it. We also request that you only check the ôEVE Forum Mod (CRC)ö choice under question 5 (What area are you interested in guiding for?). This will make it easier for us to see who is interested.
You can read more about the EVE Volunteer Program (ISD) and EVE Forum Moderator Team (CRC) in the FAQ and the Player Guide.
Our systems rely on you having the correct email in your account details. If you have an old email there that you don't use we will not be able to contact you. Make sure your email is updated under account management!!

There's one more requirement, you gotta be crazy enough. That's the only thing that explains Wrangler.

Edited by: between4and24 on 29/03/2006 10:24:48 Hi Wrangler,
I think it's really cool that a well written out application is something you take highly to but I thought it's imporant to warn that there is a character limit on the application answers.
I'm not trying to overstep you with corrections, the irk is, I know someone who did just that, and wrote out a very nice application that extended seven pages long before being pasted from the text program into the website.
It was very uncool when it got bounced back because it was too many characters. The site even logged him out before he could finish pasting and paragraphing it into the interface. There is no way to know how long that character limit is AFAIK and shaving your words down piece by piece until they fit isn't very fun after putting that much effort into it.
Hopefully this saves some over achievers out there. I also hope that the application steps can go through a reinvention sometime soon. Their very bland about the requirements and it's really awesome for you to take the time to write them out neatly and explain like you did.

Actually, I had no idea there was a character limit. I'll see if I can get someone to tell me just where the limit is.

Yes, I didn't specify IRC program, just said you should be familiar with IRC.

How about writing short application normally, and then providing a link to extended version to show off?

Don't you get an interview anyway? A friend of mine said the Aurora interviews were all automated by a bot and he made mistakes he couldn't fix, like telling them the wrong account name :p. Wonder of CRC interviews are automatic.

That question my friend has been debated for ages by some of the very best psycologists of our time. Who is Wrangler? Why does he have his own brand of jockstraps? Is he wearing one now for fun?
*shrugs* Probably on that last one.

The application is important, but how each person decides to do thiers is upto them. To the point apps that contain relevant information and answers to the questions normally work.

CRC's aren't. The only reason Aurora automates ours is that its only the 'first' step in our application process, other teams handle interviewing/recruitment differently :o)

Well, the volunteer identity is separate from the player identity. But volunteers can't go break rules with their player characters.
The whole corp/alliance trash talking things are a bit boring tbh. It's more or less "We're great, you are bad" "No, we're best, you're bad" and then they all start flaming and trolling. It's just boring.
I'm from southern Sweden, somewhere in Sksne.

cool so ISD got other chars for playing. Kinda wondered if you wouldnt get bored only moderating :)
And trash talk is great , nothing better as motivation, and fun to read. Like with my clan on xbox, I had tons of fun "trash talking" and then fight it out. Aslong as ppl dont go to extremes.
Hmm somewhere eh!? well Malm÷ rules and its nice to see your from Sksne like me. Cant have a bunch of northerners roaming around dizzin spSttekaka.

Actually you cant use your vol character for normal playing, they are used to volunteer with, if that's what you meant. Only aurora use special characters in events and play with them like players do when an event calls for it.

I'm a bit further up north, but then I commute (sksnekortet ftw) so I'm in Malm÷ sometimes. Might move down there at some point after the summer, depending on school etc.
