I also have short one second lock ups. Like others have said they happen more often the longer I play eve. Is there any solution to this other then restarting the computer every couple hours?

has anyone had any success with fixing this? I've tried updating all drivers, re-installed eve and cleared out the cache. I've even tried disabling the sound. It looks like this is a bug with the eve software. Surely someone must have some news on a fix? It's been like this since the last patch and for me it makes the game unplayable and NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. I wonder if CCP will refund my sub?

I've gone to log a petition for this but if I do it in game I get a PHP error. If I do it via the website I fill in all the details and then it takes to a page to start a new account? What the hell is going on?
Starting to get seriously p*ssed off with this as I've just lost a ferox due to eve locking up.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

Originally by: IcedBach Jr do I have to call ms to get the hotfix, or is there some place I can download it
IIRC, I just searched around using the knowledge base number and found a downloadable version. Of course I checked it thoroughly for virii and other nastiness.

Same deal here. Single processor, so the hotfix isn't gonna help me... any ideas?

Edited by: B0rn2KiLL on 01/05/2006 11:29:39 sounds like your Hard Disk is lacking space, infected with a virus And/Or is dying. i would suspect overall heat aswell, to CPU or to GFX card.
clean your box. and move your comp to a ventillated area. that usually fixed my 2.4ghz Celeron whenever it got choppy.
if your certain that the above is no the problem, then check your hard disks for free space, or system viruses. benchmark it and check preformance, and listen to the sounds it makes, see if you can spot "clucks" every now and then.
also, check your task manager for pesky "adware"
if all else fails, buy a new computer
edit: EVE works fine on my single-core cpu (AMD 3700+). and ive seen it run smoothly on my friend's Dual-core cpu (AMD 3800+). ---
new sig, Hijack it and ill eat u. *Imaran hands B0rn2KiLL a fork - Come get some!11

Originally by: Gornax Garrul The MS hotfix here resolved most of my periodic hesitation issues on my dual core system. It seems to still occur after I have played for a number of hours, but I usually have to stop before then.

These are all pertaining to the same fix but the first guide is the one I used and game runs smooth as hell now with no hiccups like before :) Hope this helps.

Same problem here too, gets worse the longer I play.
Athlon64 3000+ @ 2.2GHz (same at stock speed) DFI Lanparty nF3-250Gb running latest nV drivers, 1GB Mushkin PC3200, Leadtek 5900XT running latest WHQL drivers.
Gets a bit tedious.
Oddly, doesn't do it on a laptop I borrowed from work (Dell Precision M65 2x1.866 CPU, Quadro 350M video, 2GB RAM, damned nice laptop).

I've already had this problem at it went away when I did a complete install, all has been well over the last two weeks ors so butthis weekend it started again, not wanting to do a complete re install as I lose all the folders for the BMs, I tried as suggested higher up to change the affinity to only one rather than two, as I am running a Atlon 4800+, for the moment this works, but I do not believe that it is that complete answer as I run two accounts on the same machine and both times only one (and the same one) gives me a problem,
Anyway for those running a dual processor, try running on one affinty

Edited by: Ceratin on 10/05/2006 00:12:51 This is a known memory leak bug in the game, theres a good chance everyone gets it, if u check ur memory usuage when it happens ull see exefile.exe (eve) is using a stupid amount of your system ram (750mb+250mb across 2 accounts last time i looked)
Only way to fix atm is to relog :-/

Windows Defender from Microsoft was causing my problem. It seems it runs system scans whenever it wants to - not just at the times its programed for. Trys to grab 100% of the CPU at the same time Eve does and they battle it out, causing 1-5 second lag bursts. Try shutting down Windows Defender when playing.

I have the same problem too with these Mini-Freezes, even when there is nothing around me except the system objects. Every 5 seconds or so EVE just stops for half a second. Closing my overview makes the stuttering go away. This offcourse, is not a viable option.

Same problem here. The game starts to freeze periodically for about 1/2 to 1 sec after approx. one hour of gameplay. It seems to be a mem leak in the client. I don't have such problems in any other software and after restarting the client everything is fine again for about one hour. Then it starts freezing again.

those of you with the AMD processer goto the AMD site and get the driver for the CPU from them.
If you have the duel core AMD make sur you get the optomizer from AMD.
For Pentium users dont know what to tell ya .

This can be one of three things (or all of them if you're one unlocky sod).
A) Harddrive thrashing. This causes textures to load slowly, or information of any kind into the client, causing it to 'jitter' about. Tweaking the buffer setting might reap some performance benifits here (and I mean making it smaller, not larger).
B) CPU usage. If something else is taking up CPU cycles, then chances are the EVE client may be struggling, since it is a very CPU intence game.
C) Dual core systems. There's a long standing bug with any dual core system. You will need to grab either the MS hotfix, or the AMD driver from the AMD website. -
