Did you know CCP has offices in the Atlanta Metro area? (Kennesaw - Stone Mountain) Did you know Atlanta is frozen solid today??? Oh my goodness! I-285 is a traffic jammed block of ice! Some of CCP's employees may be out there freezin' their hinies off!
Remember guys: It's not called Hot'lanta for nothin'. Sure, it's not that hot today! But, you'll thaw out - guaranteed.

I'd be disappointed in a game company that forced its programmers (or indeed any of its staff) to have to commute all the time, and not be able to work from home. Hell if my wife can do it as a marketing research manager, I'd sure as hell expect a coder in a technology company to be able to do it. No one from CCP should be sitting in a car stuck on a highway. |

My company's HQ is just outside of Atlanta. We got an email this morning from the CEO stating that none of them are going to work because of a winter storm warning.
I live up in the Northern Plains so I thought about replying all saying, "***** you don't know what a winter storm is!" but then thought better of it. "You should just create one thread and put all of your complaints in it instead of littering the forums with multiple threads." ~CCP Falcon

(From a former Atlanta resident of 16 years. Now in South Florida where it'll hit 80 degrees today!) Eh. It was 10(f)* here this morning. With a light coating of fresh powder snow. Everything ran on time, and no one had any issues.
Atlanta needs to HTFU.

Yeah, I sorta feel for them as they don't have the road equipment down there to deal with that kind of weather. I used to live in Oklahoma City and the plows they have down there are something we'd use to plow our diveways here, if Atlanta is similar, they're going to have a hard time for a few days.
But, I'm from Minnesota, it gets cold here, and I mean COLD! We just had a couple of days where the high was around -10 F, that's -23C. That's as warm as it got, lol. The low was -22F (-30C) IIRC. You gotta love it when you go outside and the moisture in your nose freezes 10 seconds after leaving the door! |

CCP's Atlanta office is/was the development center for World of Darkness, and afaik its currently a skeleton crew, so to speak.

I love hearing the whiny crap from my southern neighbors every time they get a little weather.
Here I am sitting through a ball busting cold spell that'll freeze your pee before it hits the ground and feeling no sympathy at all. I'll be thrilled when it gets above -40 -¦C again.
Mr Epeen There are 86,400 seconds in a day. You just saved one of them by typing 'u' instead of 'you'.-á Congratulations, dumbass! |

Dear Atlanta,
-10 celsius isn't cold, and an inch and a half of snow isn't a snowstorm.
Felt like -42 here and there is 2 feet of snow in front of my house.

Fun fact: "Minnesota" is Native American for "The weather sucks here. Let's move."
The entire point of living in the south is ice avoidance. Sure, you get nine foot drifts and still feel all warm and fuzzy. We get snow flakes that usually melt upon touching the ground - and rarely. It should be no surprise, therefore, that when this climate change that isn't really happening drops a few metric tons of ice on us down here, we are hardly prepared for it.
We are quite prepared to sit on the front porch sipping mint juleps on those sultry summer evenings, however. We can also withstand 99 degree (F) days with 99 percent humidity - something I daresay would have you northerners sobbing. In fact, though I'm originally from Boston, I've lived in South Florida for so long, if the temperature drops to 54 degrees (F), where you'd be outside bare-chested (you, too, ladies), I'm grabbing a sweater and thick socks.
You see, one of the conveniences of living in the sultry south is your blood thins. Whereas, up in yankeeland, your blood thickens. You'll never see me shirtless at a late-season Packers game puffing steam like a locomotive. No no no. And, I'll probably never see YOU getting a year's perfect tan by just walking out to the mailbox one day.
So, have a heart. The last time I scraped ice from my windshield was in 1979. Don't fight it.-á Rejoin your Amarrian patriarchs.-á You know you want to. |
