Hi all,
I'm just wondering if I'm the only one in EVE who dosn't fly a Thorax right now (if you're gallente I mean). Think about it, how many Vexors, Celesties, and Exequrors have you seen latley?
-None. That's making me so sad! Right now, I'm flying a Exequror.
-Why? I guess you're thinking. And my only answer is that I don't want to be like everybody else.
I can fly thorax, I can fly battleship, but I'm not.
I fly Exequror because I want to be different. I simply hate the Thorax because it's so normal (and because of the crappy textures ).
So c'mon! Be good, be different!

The problem is, that its a good mining ship. Its popular because of that.

CrazzlY, I have similar thoughts about EVE
Quite like the Exequeror description, how does it handle?
I think Vexor will be my second choice (this is for a Gallente btw, I tend to stick to my Racial Ships, partially for RP, partially so I end up using the widest variety between Alts)
I hate that novelty-condom Thorax, it looks crappy (textures and turrets)
The Arbitrators a fine Drone Carrier, if you know any Amarr, recommend it
Currently using a Navitas and considering an Atron for exploring
Never flown a Battleship... Don't see much variety in them, never even seen Minmatar ones

Lol about the Thorax. And that werid growth on the bottom reminds me of a frog leg (if it would only make the ship go faster).
I can second that comment about that Arb on Sunday when I finally get one. I'll also be getting an Auguor (sp?), don't see many of those, I think.
Well there's my 2 ISK. A once retired pilot, now, once again helping those that fight the good fight. |

If it's your first cruiser, then I can reccomend it! It's a good looking ship, 4 mining lasers and alot of cargospace. If you fill it with drones too, you'll have a cruiser fully capable of killing roids
I have a Vexor too, and it's a good ship too, better than the Exequror - but for a much higher price.
And yes, the Thorax is the worst looking ship in EVE! (CCP FIX THE DAMN TEXTURES!!! )

I got my rupture for the same reason, not many people (that I have seen outside of minmatar space) use them.
aslo: wth is it so small? I sit next to corp mates in thoracies(?)/thorax's, whatver, and rupture is like half the size. :(
will this help in combat, in that i'm kinda small and hard to hit? atm it don't seem to matter.

YEs it will, TomB has altered the whole radius thing so that ships of different shapes and sizes are harder to hit at certain angles etc, much as you would expect in real life.
And for the record, i fly a Moa and a Caracal, mostly because i prefer caldari ships to other races. Though i do intend on collecting one of every ship (i have 30 atm )

Tekra dont despair, ive seen my maller up next to a thorax...its small too, but i love my little powerhouse :D the turrets do have a nice size, compared to on the thorax, there they vanish.
Whoo someone else who pilots an Exequror my bro has one too, i like it because it really gives you the "floats in space" feeling, a rock can do that too, but not with the same grace, especially the engine pylons make the Exequror one of the best looking ships around :D

The biggest disparity between two ships of the same type is the apocalypse and scorpion. I've had a corpmate actually fit his scorpion inside the back gap of my apocalypse.

I still fly my vexor when I go to do agent mission just because I like it. Its one of the few ships thats almost symetrical and it looks quite alien. I think its one of the coolest cruiser models and has great textures. The pipes under the body and all the guns on the side makes it look mean.
Its also got a huge cargo hold for a cruiser, something that surprised me actually as the Exequoror is ment to be the "cargo cruiser".

The scorpions smaller than an apocalypse, because, its "only" tier1 against tier2 and caldari BBs are smaller than others, due to their high technology....

Caldari ships in general are smaller than those of the other races. Amarr by far have the biggest ships, a maller is about the size of a scorpion. ------

Hey!! maybe now the big bad battleships like the apoc and arma will be getting a hard time. Watch the sudden increase in caladari battleships after the patch.

I gave my Thorax away and went back to my Vexor. Mainly cos i use it as an armoured trading ship.
Right now i am trying to rebalance the trend of everyone flying a battleship by collecting frigates. Its much more fun.
So my ship total is....
Vexor Bestower Vigil (kitted for anti battleship) Vigil (kitted for speed) Rifter Punisher (with MWD for Racing) Breacher
Presently i am training for an Iteron V as i spend most of my life in an industrial, and plan to get two of these. One for trading one for fleet support.
I've also been eyeing the Bellicose cos i like its wierd looks and ive never seen one.

I fly a megathron for mining (I know ... but no other dedicated mining ships out there ... )
and fly a Celestis for combat. No sense putting the "Ore goblin" at risk
I'll also be flying kestrels and Caracels depending on the situation.
All in all tho, I like my Celestis. It's a rather under-rated combat frigate. 5 high slots, 2 of those missile launchers, 3 turrets, 3 mid and 4 low I believe. 800 drone space to go with it.
I also build frigates of quite a few types. .. jsut for fun
You can do anything you set your mind to. |

I think they're compensating for something .....
I tend to spend most of my time in my Vigil. It looks a bit like a burning Mecha
Minmatar ships in general have a poor following - I think it's the projectiles being deemed the lesser weapons that has done this.
They all look very cool though, and they're all capable ships.
The Rupture is a particularly capable cruiser, I must say.
Cheers, TOM

Bahh the Maller is a small ship, no way its as big as a Scorpion, cause the Maller is smaller than a Thorax or Exequror......

I think the problem is that the Thorax is a good ship. As long as it's more effective than another ship it'll be popular. If you are going to buy a cruiser, and you want to use drones the Thorax is a natural choice. The MOA is just as popular. I see them everywhere I go as well. It just depends on what you want in the game.
Why settle for a lesser ship. The only reason is for varietys sake. I fly a Thorax right now cause it's a money making machine. I like variety too, but money goes a long way to convincing myself that it's ok to conform for a little bit.

I fly "Majik Yarik" the Iteron mkIV. I don't AFK mine, I work with corp members. If I MUST work on my own then I check data, read the news and speak to people in local or corp, I DON'T just leave it mine. I don't only mine with it, sometimes I go NPC hunting in it (No lower than 0.6 though, don't want to lose it) All of the above are why i'm different :) -------------------------------------------- NEW! 1/1 scale assembled plastic model benco97, Six different poses, Buy one NOW!*

I really enjoy the look as well, and tho I think I may have a different (solo) outlook on the game I think other folks should check out the gothic coolness (kind of like 'The Black Hole') of Minmatar ships. I mean, everyone flies Kestrels, but I get asked constantly about my Slasher. Sure, everyone supports saving Einstein's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, suddenly you've "gone too far". |

Hmmm in that case a Stabber heading for you straight on is gonna be damn hard to hit lol From memory its straight on profile is about as small as cruisers get :-)
