For a long time I have only read the Forums, catching up on game mechanics and occasionaly read some nice story about player made politics and large epic battles and their sometimes funny and controversial description of both sides.
But this spamming and flaming here is the first one I felt like having to write something in. It is not mentionable which alliance¦s members spam and blob the forum to death. I, as a occasional reader of the boards, am very much pi**ed about 20+ pages of flames to read through just to realize in the end, that 95% of the written stuff is just flaming and without any real reasoning behind it.
All I read so far was that F-E, ASCN, BoB and .5. had 500-1000 players blobbing the gate in EC, lagging and army to death that would try to jump in. Even without lag it is pretty awesome that the southern alliances managed to gather an army that huge in order to take down a POS that was suuposingly currently producing a mothership for the G alliance.
As far as I heard, each of the 4-5 participating armies was larger than the G fleet in total. Why is such a big army needed in order to show, which side has the balls to blobb the other one out.

1. Lag is much higher for clients that have to load the data. If 600 ADDITIONAL pilots jumped into the system, the already present fleet would have been pretty much on the safe side.
2. The attacked Corp had a contract to build one mothership for G. With the mothership being delivered, a industrial corp was punished for having had the wrong customer.

4. Yes, a mothership could easily turn the tides around, it would be foolish to have just one large fleet fighting. A single battleship fleet of 200-300 ships wouldn¦t be sufficient to take it down quickly. But I admit that it is more comfortable to have many ships around; I just wondered, wether it really was neccessary to mobilize the whole army of 4 huge alliances to attack something as small as G...

Taking out infrastructure and production capability worth some 200 billion is quicker in a large fleet, we cba waiting around tbfh.

The operation was to kill POS.
Operation was NOT to get into flt battles unles ppl want to come into the system and try em.
Now to achive this, best way is to take total control over the system so no threat to the capital ships involved. See a tactic. just cos u dont like it, does not mean its not a tactic.
Think of it like allied tactics for heavy bombing german industry in ww2.
Ghey used huge numbers to overpower defending aircraft to do most damage to factrosy etc.
same here.
When operation is to hit POS, why should group offer up a flt war? plenty of other times for that.
And yes politics, its shapes and defines the game.
You no idea what is coming next, so like 99% of ppl posting here your words mean nothing to us as u dont know our plans...

I don't know where you're getting your numbers from, but what is destroyable and at POS in EC currently is probably worth a lot less than 10 billion (assuming you can actually be bothered to take down every single POS in the system).

I agree with you on the flaming part. Usually I find it is better to shut the hell up than to go on insulting others with an alt, but some people might think it is funny? It's pretty immature of course, but since this is a game and it doesn't reveak your identity my guess is some people like to let it all out.
I find too, that mobilizing 600 players in a system to camp the gate while a colossal army of capital ships pound the pos'es around is a very nice job indeed. You can't really trust what any G/IRON alliance members say, they have to keep face on the forums, pride and all that you know. Even if their mothership was out of the system, their production capabilities will be severly crippled, and they'll lose billions in infrastructure (much more than the 10bn an G/IRON alt mentionned).
Yes, it's a great day for the south, and a very nice partnership. Furthermore, it shows how EvE is one of the greatest game of all time. I doubt you could see 600 ships monopolizing a system in any other game. EvE ftw
