With the Halloween war wrapping up it looks like the attempts to create a rival coalition to the CFC are pretty much done. With this in mind I suggest that CCP do the following things. - On March 31st 2014 the CEO of CCP shows up at Mittani's house with a trophy and awards him his prize for winning Round One of EVE. Photos are taken, there's an impromptu interview and congratulations all round. - On April 1st EVE doesn't come back online after downtime. The eveonline.com homepage features has photos of the prizegiving ceremony, devs talking about the history of the game and tracking the success of the eventual winner. - On April 1st Round Two is announced with signups available from the first minute of April 2nd. All characters are deleted, all assets are deleted, space is completely cleared out, a total wipe. - On April 2nd it turns out it's not a joke. Remake your characters, start training from scratch, rebuild the economy, the empires, everything.

This isn't about being mad, I'm literally a multi trillionaire. There are only a small handful of people who would lose more in a total reset than me. This is about it being a fantastic idea that needs to happen. Give the man his trophy and let's start again. You don't keep playing Monopoly after one guy has all the properties. |

I'll second the motion, Eve has become a bore. It's a circlejerk where line members make sure they are in the right coalition, pat themselves on the back when they did something like take over some virtual space while their leaders endulge in their near-divine status.
Did we ever expect Eve not to be a reflection of current societal structures? Look at Eve China, it reflects theirs. Let's use the potential a virtual world has to its fullest. That includes burning it.
I'd still play. Hell, I'd do it all over again because, remember, the mechanics don't change with a reset, we'll have a similar patern develop soon enough.
Now start using my last paragraph as a reason to not do it. I dare you. |

What, because I don't think I should lose everything I've worked for over the past several years? And I don't much feel like spending a year working on basic fitting skills while flying around in T1 cruisers? |

Think of all the fun we could have! It would seem you can only focus on the size of your own space-wong and your intense need to keep hold of it. |

This is a bad idea for two reasons. First, all of the existing in-game coalitions are largely held together by out-of-game connections and media, so this wouldn't remove the CFC - they'd still be the biggest and most organized group in the game, they'd just all be in merlins and slashers along with everyone else. You wouldn't actually change the distribution of power and wealth in the game meaningfully other than inasmuch as a lot of people would quit because seriously **** training AWU V again.
Second, something quite similar was done when the chinese server came online in that you had a 'virgin' server paired with a playerbase that had a fairly detailed understanding of game mechanics. The result was a mad rush to claim sov that subsequently became more or less impregnable because it doesn't take much SP to anchor sov structures but you need a year or so to get into ships with the firepower to knock them down in a non-suicide-inducing amount of time. The end result was that the people who first grabbed the sov were able to hold it uncontested for years. Ceterum censeo, the RLML and HML nerfs must be undone. |

Yeah I am with you on that. "wiping" everything still would not solve the problem you seem to be having an issue with. If having so much isk is a bother, there are plenty of new players who would be greatly appreciated if you tossed them some isk so they could buy the ships they need.
Now onto what the OP is saying.
I personally, wouldn't want to have to retrain all the skills I would need in order to not only fly the hulk/mack/ret but the Orca or for my freighter, the Charon. Just because a small portion of the population wants to totally annihilate EVE so you can get he thrill of having to start fresh, why not just delete YOUR character's and start over from scratch, instead of forcing everyone in the ENTIRE game into having to start from total and utter annihilated scratch. That would probably drive a lot of people away from the game, not make them want to play, at least for me, I wouldn't want to.
If you are THAT bored with EVE, go find another game to play until the EVE bug bites you again. i don't see punishing the 500k+ players who play EVE just so you don't have to be bored and can get the thrill of the game back, the right course, not to mention it's utterly selfish. If you are bored with EVE, go play another game. I can tell you now, CCP won't do this. They'd have a riot on their hands if they were to pull something as asinine as this. |

This would be very counter-productive when it come to retaining younger players. I know that I wouldn't be bothered resubbing if progress was wiped out, and there's a ton more people that would just go away that you'll never hear about. Eve is not stale for me, it's not stale for lots of other people as it is. There's really no problem, and with the promised new space that's coming soon (tm)... yeah. |

If you have one marble, and want more marbles, you either have to stab the other guy with one marble with your butterknife, or try and take it from the guy who has a gun.
And no don't make any remarks about how if you're close enough to a guy with a gun the gun is almost useless, he's 50 feet away in an open empty parking lot, with riot gear on, and he can literally read your mind.

omg a serious response. And a well thought out one. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

Oh no, I want to see if the people revolts or if Mittens treats his subjects really well. Is this the tyrant-era or the prosperous era where "everyone" due to no losses gets enough resources to fly carriers and supercarriers exclusively? Will we find things to disagree about and make war over no matter what? Or CAN a world be united under one "nation"? (so many have tried in real life to rule the world, maybe its impossible, or maybe it at least can happen in a digital world). I want to ride this out to see what happens, we know pretty much what will happen if we reset it. First the biggest frigate gangs with be the kings, then the biggest destroyer gangs, then the biggest cruiser gangs, then the biggest battlecruiser gangs, then the biggest battleship gangs (remember the 249km battleship blobs?), then the first group with a carrier will rule, etc. Basically history will repeat itself. But if we let things ride out, then who knows what will happen? Will the capital elite turn on its subcapital subjects under one ruler? |
