Edited by: Joram McRory on 01/04/2006 11:14:46 Yep - I use a 20" wide screen on one of my PCs and it is very nice for eve - you get a lot more screen real estate for all your chat windows :-) Joram

Edited by: 3X671 on 01/04/2006 11:23:37 yep same here. i got a 19" acer wide screen and it's great! although i never played eve on a ctr monitor the wide screen does have a wider view that will give you an edge on all games.

I got mine a week ago and it's wonderful. Very bright clear display.
I really only had one issue with getting everything working. When I downloaded and installed the .inf file for the monitor from their web site, 1680x1050 quit working entirely, and their troubleshooting guide told me that my video card didn't support that mode. I had to uninstall the monitor driver to get it working again.

Heres an example
this is from my Budget 19" Wide screen. it's only a resolution of 1440x900. If you're getting a 20" it'll probobly have almost double the resolution.
Once you've played most games on a widescreen, you'll never go back to standard 4:3. - -

I'm running EVE Online on 1920x1080 in Windowed Mode on my Apple Cinema HD Display 23". But at fullscreen i can run EVE Online in 1920x1200.
EVE is running ok on my Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro with 1920x1080 resolution with full Anti-Aliasing & full Anisiotropic Filtering etc, but if i'm taking the resolution any higher, then my graphic card is starting to get some troubles to run EVE smoothly.

Edited by: Hydrian Alante on 01/04/2006 11:55:41 EvE runs great on any Widescreen Displays. This is something I can¦t say from every other game.
On my Notebook with a 15,4" Widescreen ist runs perfectly in 1280x800.

All latencies are Grey to Grey (GtG). It's the standard nowadays.

I use two x 24" inch wide Dell flatscreens its well tasty.
I have to leave the study door open as they heat the room up a bit much especially with summer coming.
I heard one guy (single) plays using one of those living room projectors on a 65" inch screen lucky sod. ( Why oh why did I ever let my misses move in )

I have the same acer that you are looking at there. It is a fantastic monitor and the best one. I spent alot of time looking at monitors before I bought one. Really making themonitor look right is really all about the settings. You will not have any ghosting if you get the monitor set up correctly. Mine looks awesome. The old CRT monitors on my other computers are like looking through muddy water.

I run EVE on my Dell Latitude X1 with a 12.1" widescreen at 1280x768 resolution. It's quite nice.
To run EVE on a small monitor, it really needs to be widescreen (1024 pixels horizontal just plain doesn't fit EVE, you REALLY need 1280 or more). -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

True Widescreen
BUT notice the warping of the image at each side. EVE doesn't correctly adjust the FOV for widescreen. You get a barrel effect.

All I can really say is you will NOT be disappointed. More realestate is always good, especially in the width department. I went from a 17 LCD (good monitor too) and bought a 22" widescreen and it's so much better that I will never go back to standard 4:3 monitors ever.
Not only in the game will you see the difference, it really shows in watching movies and just about every game out there. Except Battlefield 2 which doesn't have an option for 1680*1050 Damn EA are such morons. C&C3 has it but not BF2 where it would really look good. But I degress.
Also, a question for those here: is the DVI cable worth it? I didn't get one with my monitor and the screen looks great but would spending the extra $30 for a DVI cable be worth it? What are the differences?

Elgar,
How do you get Eve to span monitors? I'm running with a dual-monitor setup and I haven't had any luck getting it to run on more than one monitor.. Please oh please help me out!!! |

Edited by: Prothos on 03/04/2007 14:46:34 i play on a 22" Lg Widescreen 1680x1050 ò5ms Response Speed ò2000:1 Contrast Ratio Connected with DVI also tried 1440 resolution. The only issue is that the fonts for the everything but chat suck and are hard to ready. The are small and look broken. There really needst to be a option to change the the font and size so useres can tweak to suit thier needs. I have tweaked all the setting and still get this issue. All other games i play seem to work fine
