Eve is beautiful!
I'm in the market for a new laptop and want something that will allow me to play eve comfortably with the graphical settings for "quality" on most of the time (of course during fleet fights, you always have to drop down to performance).
I read through the system requirements for Eve here: http://www.eveonline.com/faq/client-system-requirements/
But I wanted to get some opinions from the community about which laptops are giving everyone the best results for graphical quality without a performance hit. What RAM is optimal (more is better, but at what amount have I topped out and over bought? 4GB? 8GB? 24GB?)
Also, what is the most critical criteria to look for? Just the GPU?
Any one have any thoughts to share? |

My new MacBookPro (2.3GHz i7,16G Ram, GT 750M/2G VRAM) works extremely well with EVE. |

My only opinion is that gaming on a laptop is like watching movies on your phone.
It can be done, but why would you?

There are 86,400 seconds in a day. You just saved one of them by typing 'u' instead of 'you'.-á Congratulations, dumbass! |

Oh because you travel a lot, for example. |

Exactly! I use and HDMI cable to link the laptop to the room in the hotel and play that way, so the screen size isn't an issue. I always play Eve on 30+ inch screens. |

Any one have any thoughts to share? You don't really need much to run eve on high settings. I have a dell 7520 (inspiron 15 r special edition i7 ssd etc) which despite having a 7730m can run eve comfortably at 1920x1080 with full details in small gang warfare. I can also run multiple clients on it quite easily. Other games need to be turned down to 1366xwhatever to run well with high settings. I went with a dell because it was on sale and I received a discount through my work on top of the sale. No other laptop could compete remotely in that price range. |

I can play eve with integrated Intel HD 2000 (64megabytes of memory!) graphics on medium just fine; using that as a baseline, ANY laptop you buy should be able to run eve on hi. So don't spend lots of money. |

Very true. My 6 year old Sony runs Eve easily, but I do get some performance lag when focusing on "quality" graphics, particularly in hub systems.
I went with an ASUS with a NVIDIA GTX 760M graphics card, 12GB RAM, i7 2.4 Ghz with boost to 3.4 Ghz. Should last a while even if CCP punches up the graphics even further later on. |

ASUS is a great gaming laptop. My son uses one (which I purchased for him ...). The 760M will do you well.

ASUS makes a pretty good off the shelf gaming laptop. If you're looking for something custom though, I'd get an old copy of PC gamer and look through the ads in there. System builders are always taking out articles there showing the different options you can have them put together for you. |

I used to build my own PCs, but never tried a latptop because I heard there is so much custom and proprietary hardware inside. Also, you need to be some sort of tetris master to get it all to fit. I admire anyone that can do it on their own though. |

I use this:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/asus-g750jx-gaming-laptop_Laptop_review
Unlike most forumers here, I was unable to buy a house with no debt and have extra rooms where to store my PC. So laptop it was.
Also playing EVE on the go via 3g is a bonus
A bit of an overkill, on the plus side you can play BF4 on high if you so choose to
While Im sure there are better laptops out there, this one was best bang for buck.
Setup:
CPU i7 VGA: GTX 770m ( 3Gb VRAM) 24 Gb DDR system ram 256 Gb SSD 1 Tb HDD ( 7200 rpm )
Price may vary since I bought it in midle of nowhere country. Still cheaper then Apple and much, much more powerful.
Well built, works nice, doesnt overheat. All in all a happy customer.
EDIT: There is also a version with GTX 780. And that is truly a beast of its own. :) |

Building your own laptop is rarely worth it as the components are put under much higher stressed then desktops. The ability to have a comprehensive warranty out weights the minor savings you could get through your own build. |
