Hello all...
I'm getting ready to move up to the Battlecruiser class and am having a dilemma. I can't decide on if I should go with a Prophecy or a Cyclone. I'd get both if I were rich, but since I'm not, I have to pick one.
I want to engage in a little PvP with this ship (as well as get revenge on a certain pirate) but am having trouble deciding whichis more suited for it. I love the huge amount of armor Amarr ships get, but I also really enjoy using missiles. And Minmatar ships always have a good amount of launchers.
Can someone give me some pros and cons to each ship to make it easier for me to decide?
Thanks!

Edited by: Denrace on 02/04/2006 23:31:22 You sound like you are new to PVP and fitting ships and things like that.
My advice would be go for the Prophecy because:
Easy to fit, with plenty of power grid
Simple to use, you can't go wrong with an armour tank + pulse lasers
Does quite a bit of damage
Tanks very well
Less skill intensive than a Cyclone
The Prophecy is a very easy ship to fit and fly (generally)where as the Cyclone needs a bit more experience to use. Minmatar ships can do some insane damage, but are usually harder to fit. For a newer EVE player, the Prophecy represents the better choice simply because you dont need so many skillpoints to be effective at flying one. Lasers and armour tanks are great even with low skills, whereas the Cyclone would be more suited to a player with a hefty amount of Gunnery skillpoints.
At the end of the day it depends really on your Skills and preferences as an individual.
Hope this helps!

Cyclone
- Greater cargo capacity (125 more) - Bigger dronebay (15 more) - 1 more high slot - Great shieldtank - 75 more cpu (pays off better than the 90 extra pwr the prophecy has imo) - Lower sig, higher scan resolution, an a lil bit faster - 2 more of those ML slots you like :)
All in all, the most balanced BC out there. Only problem may be the skills required to utilize it. Then again, I'm not sure if the prophecy requires any less... ____________________________________________ Don't worry aboutit |

NM, the prophecy may be better for pvp because you can armor tank and save those med slots for scramblers, webs and such. ____________________________________________ Don't worry aboutit |

Prophecy is a tough, solid machine. I've used mine in pvp several times and use it to hunt in 0.0. Plain and simply it's a beast. Cyclone can have nice dps with t2 projectiles I'm sure but I'm not sure the tank holds up as well.

I wouldn't even use a Cyclone for mining. A Prophecy is far better in pretty much every way, and ironically enough, does better overall using projectiles than a Cyclone does. (slightly less damage and tracking but a far superior tank) Signature file size and dimensions to big, please keep it under 400x120 and 24000 bytes - Petwraith |

I'd say prophecy. I've found the cyclone to be lacking. The shield tank is nice but hard to maintain for any decent amount of time. I had a real problem running level 3's in a cyclone, with all t2 and named gear. Switched to the prochecy, slapped some 220's t2 on it with some t2 gyros and the dps is about the same as the cyclone. Tank is much better and maintainable. Only problem with it is speed from my experience the ammarian ships are extremely slow and not very agile.

shield tanked AC cyclone > all hacs bar except the ishtar
...I think that says allot.
..ofc that it takes quite a "know-how" and experience, but I've seen cyclones beating vagas and stuff. It will go even better when you fit T2 220's in it. ----------------

Cyclone is a better BC for all around, you don't even need to use projectile turret to dish out damage as my friend's have flown them with t2 lasers and with it's 2nd largest drone bay and best BC speed it's really nice, but you have to have the skills to back.
In the BC specturm from easiest to fly/fit to hardest: Ferox <-> Cyclone
Got skills?

..each one to its own... but belive me that shield tanked cyclone can beat a vaga pretty easily. ----------------

most of the times vagabond pilots think of the cyclones as easy targets, so you don't have to chase them, since they come at you ----------------

I'd go for the Prophecy..that's what i have....it takes less time to train for the armor tank than the sheild tank....
...and if you cant afford the ships get a BPC for cheap and mine for the minerals...
...for me the prophecy and the ferox are the best BC's in the game...a good sheild tankin missle boat in the ferox and a closer range laser weilding armor tank for closer range....
...hope this influences your choice... Life is Pain.....Get over it!!!! |

Cyclone is a damn good ship for short combat, i run one with a sheild booster and an extender and i tore through about 6 ships in a few minutes. Problem is once you run out of cap you're finished.
Proph is a good choice for new people since the extremely good tank allows you to take your time.
