With a new engine, can we get a new UI as well?
The existing UI is inuntuitive, badly designed, bulky, laggy, and buggy.
I would like to see something a little more streamlined.

Will there be displacement maps? Or at least bumpmapping? Either would easly make a huge difference for a game like eve. ____________________________________________ Don't worry aboutit |

I think they mentioned it in one of the Fanfest videos. They showed some nice lighting/shadowing effects on the skin of a Mega.
I'ld like to see more work done on the backgrounds of the Solarsystems so they looked less like... well backgrounds. Having each region have a definite structure in those gas clouds would be really sweet - if you could see really see the distance jumped between systems in the perspective on the clouds.

Edited by: Andrue on 04/04/2006 10:42:19 What I'd like to see is an option for more realistic lighting.
If you were really out in an Asteroid belt some way from the sun I don't think you'd see more than a few dozen of the closest asteroids. I think it would give a more mysterious and exciting atmosphere to mining and might even make combat in and around a belt more challenging.
You could even have a set of lights on the mining ship sweeping the area lighting up more distant asteroids as it hits them. -- (Battle hardened miner)

I hope that in the new client are far more graphics options. Something like: turn off this fuzzy HDR Lightning but use these amazing new ship models. IŠm not sure if my X1600 can handle all this stuff at once.
You know X3? If these changes come along, Eve looks far more better than this Game.
CanŠt stop looking at this new Vexor. The Details and the Textures are simply amazing.
If you look at other MMOGs, the players have to pay for any content update. When a new graphics Engine comes along, they have to buy a new Game (WoW2 for example)
http://www.eve-files.com/media/0603/new_vexor.jpg
Sorry but you don't have to pay anything except monthly fees to blizzard for graphical updates. If you're thinking about "The Burning Crusade" expansion then it's a "major" content expansion and nothing extraordinary on the gfx side.

while youre fixing the graphics corp tools nee finishing (voluntary concord disclosure mail for ppl applying to join corps ie send a mail from concord offically detailing all youre alt names) divisional wallets actually having seperate wallets and not just the roles on all members in youre corp a little info tab detailing how many days since that toon last logged in. proper rollout of other planned CEO tools
DOnt even start on the pathetic UI and needing the ability to push corp taxes up to 50%

Hey, I have a small suggestion. It makes sense in a twisted perverted American way.
FIX THE CURRENT BUGS BEFORE YOU START POCKING AROUND WITH THE GAME!!!
Sorry seen this thread, and remembered last nights...No local chat...No overveiw...no nada..nothing...zip...etc...etc All known bugs and issues. You keep pileing on roses to cover the rotten shark meat.
Come on guys, sure that will grand and really be a sight to see....but you should get somthing working right first, before you submit it for improvements....

You are a ClichT. What does bugs and bugfixing have to do with graphics? They have different teams for different things you know.
Anyway, i would happily sell my left testicle for a picture of a graphically enhanched raven. ______________

You are absolutely right, thats why I only compared graphics =)
X3 looks great but is a total trainwreck on most other aspects =)

Bloody good question
I'm having second thoughts about the new vexor though, looking at it again it gives you no real impresion of scale. The old one had windows all over the place, so you could see it had loads of decks and ****. This one looks like it could be big, or just as easily be a one man fighter... Probably just me

Bug fixing = QA team (just read the new dev blog ) Graphical Updates = a specific part of the dev team.
This isnt like a little modification for a game where a group of 3-6 guys does EVERYTHING ya know.
EDIT: Toros Revoke, about the scale... I was thinking the same thing, but then again.. A cruiser should be a ship with just the main bridge and maybe a room or two, holding a captain and like 3 crew members. The only ships that really need windows all over the place IMO, are the BSes and Capital ships.
Oh and not to mention... we are using one man pod piloted ships :P. But fictionally, yea, cruisers arent really that big anyway. __________________________________________________

Unless of course you want to use the absurd scales on that ship chart thingy, the one where a frigate is taller than the eifel tower and titans are about the size of the moon. Personally I reckon its a case of eve getting ***** envy

No, those were custom made for the feature by a player. You'll see the same in issue 3 for the Force Recon article. Although its a possibility they might do something with it in the future, iuno

Will the smartbomb GFX get some loving? I mean come on we know it can be done better than the 'custard split on the floor' jobby we have for plasma smartbombs...
The graphical effects here ('The Caldari outlaw' - 3 years old) are awesome. Not sure why smartbomb graphics got reduced to the state they are in nowadays

So you are saying all those pesky little grapic bugs we have been dealing with for three years are ok? And all the new ones that are poping up, those are ok also?
The game is broke and you want more bugs? Yeah, I can see where your comming from, you want to sharper images of a ship getting poped "Ohhhhhhhhpreeeettyyyyyy" I just want a game that performs the way its suppose to.
I think CCP has brainwashed you all, or used that Jedi mind trick on you.

Have to agree w/ the X1600. Mine holds its own W/ EQ2 on its highest setting though so mabey we can hold out. Will play eve nomatter what though, New graphics just means a good excuse to buy an x1900... :)

I thought it was the American way to take things done quickly. Immediate Gratification over long term satisfaction or something like that....
And the bugs that do exsist arn't that bad... Sure I get kicked every once in a while. Big deal. It slows me down for what, the 30 seconds it takes to get back in the game?

Are you being serious? You want them to shelf a huge engine overhaul to fix petty graphical glitches that noone notices? Dont act as if you were talking about graphical bugs to begin with to save face mate.
Furthermore i have no idea what graphical glitches you're talking about so why dont you humour me and name a few. ______________

I'm very enthusiastic about the improved graphics and engine upgrade, but I do have a small concern: What are the requirements going to be?
I know quite a few people are out there who run the game on older machines, not always able to buy a newer machine. Will they still be able to run EVE properly?
I on the other hand have a pretty good rig and can easily run 2 EVE sessions simultaneously without any trouble, so I got a Power of 2 account. But will I still be able to run those 2 accounts simultaneously?
I'm assuming there will be ways to tone down the graphics so far that it won't be an issue, but still... Rimhawk V8 Interceptors |
