Also getting black screen at login.
Model Name:Mac Pro Processor Name:Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed:2.66 GHz Memory:16 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 120
Even though the specs do not meet minimum requirements, I have been playing with no issues the last 2 years. Issues have arisen after the last few patches.
Before the latest patch I was getting to the character selection screen before my mac would lock up. After the most recent patch my mac goes directly to a black screen and locks up.
The following lines are from the system log that have errors in the line.

Ok, downloaded the patch this morning and instead of a black screen I got to the character select screen. During the startup process my monitor was flickering then became stable. Clicked on my character and in about 8 seconds an error message popped up on my screenGÇönever seen an error message popup like this beforeGÇöwhich said:
unhandled page fault on read access 0x00000000 at address 0x8f07c032 Do you wish to debug?
I clicked yes and EVE launcher quits but my machine does not lockup. The following is the system log at the point the debugger starts up:

Just a wild guess but is it possible that maybe an update with Java or Flash Player is contributing in this issue since not all MACs are being affected? Not everyone always updates their version Flash or Java whenever a new version is availableGǪ |

So I broke down and setup my other Mac, which is a mac mini, to run Eve.
The Mac Mini has an Intel HD 3000 graphics card installed as opposed to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 on my Mac Pro. On the Mac Mini I get to the character selection screen, am able to select a character and the UI almost loads completely. While the game is loading, the word "LOADING" phases in and out on the screen but after a minute or so, the word stops phasing and the computer locks up just like on my mac pro. On the Mac Pro I get to the character selection screen and it locks up there before I can select a character.
So the games progresses further on the Mini than on the Pro but in the end they both need hard resets.
It is not only the 330m, 320m, and 9400m receiving problems but a wide variety of graphics cards and setupsGǪ |

The specific problems you and others are experiencing, may be "exclusive to the 20m, 330m, 320m, 9400m and 9600m" in YOUR(s) cases. But there is something else going on also. OTHER cards have reported similar graphics issues. In my case, I have NEVER had any graphics issues whatsoever with either of my two different graphics cards, outside of EVE. The issues in this thread appear to have started with specific patches although its possible that people who have 20m, 330m, 320m, 9400m and 9600m cards have had some of these or other graphics issues before the new patches, as outlined on Apples website. The newest patches seem to call on routines that are making these issues apparent across many graphics cards. |

Wow, get thisGǪ
I have Parallels on my MAC Pro. Parallels is like bootcamp in that you can run Windows from a Mac. I have Windows XP installed in Parallel. I just downloaded EVE for Windows and it works perfectly under Parallels. This is with the NVIDIA Geforce GT 120 video card. On the MAC side, I cannot run Eve because of ongoing issues described in this thread. |
