I mean seriously. No Brown Sauce, no Worcester Sauce (pronounced wooster), and no Branston!!!
Every American I've ever met who has come over to the UK and tried these gastronomic phenomenae has loved them and could not understand why they are not available over the pond. So why aren't they? And what do you guys put in sandwiches to make them more exciting? Please don't say "mustard". The mildly tangy, luminescant yellow substance that graces hotdogs is not real mustard. Real English mustard is light brown and carries warning signs in seven European languages. in fact, the last time a truckload arrived in Calais, the French surrendered just to be on the safe side...

Branston Pickle is sweet and spicy with a chutney-like consistency, containing small chunks of vegetables in a thick brown sticky sauce. It is commonly served as part of a Ploughman's lunch, a common menu item in English pubs. It is also frequently combined with cheddar cheese in sandwiches, and most sandwich shops in England offer "cheese and pickle" as an option.

I would say the Americans you have met that have never had those things are ignorant, have never eaten anywhere other than McDonalds, and afraid to try new things. I mean, not to be rude, but with the exception of the pickle sauce I have been using these things for 30 years. _______________________________________________

Edited by: Kurren on 04/04/2006 13:33:00 Americans are... stupid... ok, the majority are... some do play Eve...
Go to a market (or as we call them in the states... a grocery store) Might I recommend A1 and A1: Thick and Hearty. We have the sauces you speak of... though... I have no clue wtf Branston is...
Originally by: Dario Wall Drinking a bottle of A1 plain should be considered a health hazard...
Done it... it's fine. I dared a friend of mine, though, to drink a cup of "Wooster" sauce and he was over the toilet for about 10 minutes... and he's English... --- --- --- ---

We have all that stuff in Canada, I'd imagine the States would have an ample supply as well. I'm just not sure they know what to use it on.
As to your assertion about British mustard, you should try some Russian homemade - and by 'try' I mean 'apply a layer to your sandwich that's roughly one atom thick because any more will make your eyes swell up shut and your ringpiece to spit magma'.
