Writer's block is a horrible thing to have. I've started an intro post to this blog 6 or 7 different times and each one of the attempts just hasn't had the tone I was looking for. Sometimes things work out, and the odd time it doesn't. This is one of those odd times.
It's been a couple weeks since any major updates from Oveur or myself. No, we weren't kidnapped or thrown in jail after the Vegas trip, our absences were health related. I've explained the health problems and even added some news in my new Dev Blog.
Apologies for the recent lack of communication and information. I hope the Blog helps make up for it.

Actually, having played Oblivion, I find the quests dull and repetitive, the combat system fairly sucky and clunky, the dungeon design linear and traps uninspiring. Imo they spent way to long on the eye candy and too little time on the gameplay. Oh, and the spellcrafting is so overpowered its not even funny.
The horror of working on games all day: you end up analysing the flaws in everything you play (and no, I wont be analysing eve, its perfect!)

O rly?
Look at the quests in your game! The quests offered in Oblivion are far better than in EvE Online. DonŠt get me wrong, I love EvE. But the PvE Content is to be honest, not very good... I think that you are absolutly not in the position to talk about "dull and repetitive" quests in Oblivion.

Geeze Mephysto
Hey I have a question for anyone who would ever like to answer about E3, since Kieron mentioned it.
Its my understanding that E3 is for gaming developers and a select few others (investers, game-mag writers, game designers and so-on, just about everyone except the general public.)
And I know for a lot of companies/games its all about stroking their e-peen, showing off their budget, or subscription numbers, or booth babes, or just pimping what makes their game special.
So my question is (if you can say) what is CCP doing to make EVE stand out and get noticed? Are you going to show off the new graphic engine or talk about the China server, stoke the e-peen about the server upgrade?
Or are you going to talk about what I think makes this game special...the community and its single world?
As an example; the BoB/ASCN/5/Axiom/ siege of EC. When I think about it for what it represents at its basic compaired to other games. That kind of teamwork (600+ people) is not only unheard of, but impossible in any other MMO. For me when I read about it, all I could think was...holy ****!
Thats the kind of hype that I think will get people to raise their eye-brows and go "Hmmm, really? Whats this all about?".
What I mean is, I've always felt the strongest part of the game is the community and what they are and have the ability of doing. I feel it should be the strong point of CCP's E3 e-peen stroking. My opinion of course.

Serenity is in early alpha stages and we are happy with the progress being made. If everything falls into place like we hope, Serenity should be launched before the end of the year.
Probably a stupid question but what is serenity?

Serenity is the name of the EVE server that will open in China.

Hm... just curious, but will that server be available to current TQ players without paying any extra fee? __________________________________________________

Yes Saeris, E3 is the gaming/interactive entertainment industry's annual conference and expo. It is open to all members of the industry (like me) but not the general public. The reason for this is because it's about the "business", i.e. the business of designing, creating, producing, marketing, etc. of games and interactive entertainment. It concentrates on the artistic, technical, and business side of gaming rather than the actual "playing" of games.
However, there is still a lot of playing that goes on.
It is VERY hard to get into if you aren't in the industry. However, as with anything else, if you know the right people it is possible to weasel your way in if you try hard enough.

One of Bartle's less fun truisms about making games, yea.

I missed the reason behind Ouver's health problems, but I'm guessing alcohol played a part?
I know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but Dev + fanbois = lots of free drinks for Dev, right?
royally sucks that Power of 2 is over. This week's paycheck was going to be the one with the extra income that would've paid for the other account. Ohwell. Hard to play 1 char with my current schedule of work and school.

VFX work is the same way. Every time I see a movie I can't help but analyze all the effects work. Unless it's a really good movie (kinda rare these days) and I forget about the effects.
