its all jsut a cruel joke by CCP.
Also: Have you noticed how close together the 'Train Skill' and 'Trash Item' options are?
Yes. I accidentally deleted a skillbook this weekend.

I made a post about this (among other things) a few days ago (Linkage). Short summary: I propose double-clicking should be used to bring up the info window.

Now I have to type something else so as not to violate posting rules...err...how about this is a simple request and can cause all sorts of hassle. I accidently convo'd a dude JUST TODAY as a matter of fact, nothing like ruining the element of suprise

Agreed.
Also take out that convo on double click or make it an option so you can turn it off. I have often started convos with people because I double clicked by mistake on their pic in local. Double click should bring up info not a convo.

You can still click their name by chat comments they've made and open the info window, which is handy. I've started a couple convos while checking out shady characters in local, and that's pretty enmbarassing.
Dude: Yeah? Me: Umm... Are you a pirate? Dude: Are you filled with precious lewt? *Me warps to safespot and logs off.
As to the right-slicking in space thing, I had a bad month where right-clicking on my HQ would bring up the contextual menu for a station on the other side of the system, so I kept clicking "dock" and warping 38 AU. Now I always use the little triangle in the upper left to access that menu.
I think a right-click, even on an object, should bring up the general menu unless you're holding in Alt. Even when it looks like you're clicking in space, there might be a moon or asteroid belt under your cursor.

Originally by: Mihail d'Amour /signed. While we are at it, could we have a hot-button for pulling up the 'empty space right-click menu'. It is a pain in the tail when leaving a graphically overbearing station or flying around your POS to find the one tiny speck of empty space on your screen where that menu opens instead of an interaction menu with some object you aren't even actually looking at.
For the record, if you press [ctrl] and then click, the menu doesn't come up, so you're free to click in space to head in that direction or whatever is required. It will lock the item but so long as you haven't got any weapons on 'standby' then that's not a problem.

Turning off the HUD (ctrl+F9) has the same effect, without locking anything. I use that to navigate through asteroid fields in a light frigate while running my survey scanner. It's also fairly cinematic. Too bad Condors are so ugly.

yeah double click should be show info pr default, and not just in chat, everywhere and everything, with only exception empty space :)
