IMHO the fact that PvP is part does not make it the only part. On the other hand this does not necessarily say that's it's a level playing field.
For some Eve is too much PvP, for others it's too little. How come everybody expects this game to fit everbody. Yes, CCP has tried to put several career possibilities into Eve, but get real, they all interact.
So far my own experience is a lonesome one, but once I trained those skills to properly outfit my Merlin I'll begin moving around. Then I'll find out if this is a game for me (or if I can find some part of it that is).
It's a game, nothing more, nothing less. If you find no place in it for your play-style, try to adjust, but if you can't, move along ... I know I will.

I play EVE for fun, I have 3 characters each of whom are VERY different.
Jev is my main character and he is an 'All Rounder Good Guy' He will help anyone and everyone if he can.
Aggamemnon Jones, is my trader, think Salmonius from Hercules and yoo are close to what his view of life is.
My third character is a Pirate, I have not named him because he lurks in the shadows and to do so would ruin his game.
My three characters DO NOT interact with each other and they are all in different areas of the Eve universe.
Which character I play is dependant on my mood. If I want to bad then I am a pirate, if I want to be Good I am Jev and if I want to fleece some unsuspecting 'mark' then I am Aggamemnon.
I am creating Bio's for my chars as a background, to give them depth. This IS a roleplaying game and as such allows us to act in ways that we never would in RL.
In real life, I am a retired (thru disabilty) father of three and would NEVER knowingly hurt anyone.
I play EVE to have fun, its a game. It allows me to roam the space lanes as one of the above chars.
When I log off, I go back to being me 8)
Sooo, chill, have fun, create a pirate and get yer own back.

Oh, my comments have 'touched' some of the 'tough guys' out there? Why are you so upset? For calling you a criminal, scum, thief...? Or for someone not admiring your big and shinny BS? Uhhhhhh, I'm scared of your threats, what will you do to me you big nasty pirate - CTD me? Click on the big bunch of pixels on the screen and then click on another group of pixels and then yell : "God I'm bad!!!".
EVE is a game and forums are part of it. So accept the fact that you were dragged into pointless argument by a n00b:))) Why do you think I have started 3 different threds in the same subject?!?

i have never posted on this board but i got to reply to this ,you big sissy lala, most pirates do not make much money killing PC's , we do it for the fun of it.and why do you **** and moan about the fact that you suck at making money,that is not the fault of pirates, it your fault that you can't play.i make all my money from killing npc's not pc's and i lost a mega BS and 1 hour later had a new one,(all from npc killing) so stop your crying and learn how to play the game and you too can have money.

I am new to EVE, I don't very often play games as they all seem to be too linear but this seems different.
It is so exciting that if I choose to do so I can become a miner, trader or pirate.
I wouldn't take pleasure out of killing people in real life (I don't think anyway) but like some of you said, this is a game and it let's you explore possibilities you don't get to explore in real life because of society etc.
Whatever role you decide to play in EVE, if you don't enjoy it don't play it.
See you in space...

Go back and mine silly carebears who whine and moan about pirates, MINE MINE MINE. All I hear is why did I get podded, why did my ore get stolen, why are pirates in Battleships, why am I in a cruiser, why can't I be as good as them, why haven't I learned how to use secure containers to protect myself from ore thieves, why do I go to a system I know I'm gonna get PK'd in, WHY WHY WHY!

T00r, you missed a very big fact here.
The guys in cow corp do in fact cheat bigtime by making the eve-client go CTD, making anyone in their local space lag out from launching a myriad of cargo containers.. oh the examples could make a long list here.
So its not about playing fair, there was attempt have criminals to pay for their actions in this game, as things are now there is none.
Instead they are rewarded by being in the most profitable part of space with good ore and superior loot.
I said that the game is running the risk of running into serious trouble for these reasons - perhaps it already have.
That the player-pirates dont have to fear any decrese in security rating since they can boost it by killing NPC pirates makes it impossible to attack many even in secure space nowadays.
In other games things like honesty, realiability and just common sense have its place - seems we lack that completely here.
With this situation there will be no growth here, as for more players who likes it so much that they stay im after the trial, Fausto do admit being a noob and as such obviously have had a rather sad experience here.
I've noted that 'carebear' have become the term to dismiss anybody who dont agree with the whatever that might have been said, belittle them by putting on one silly label, so yes - dismiss the work of every GM, Polaris and go on with your egoistic exploits. Just like your soulmate Annoing there - so go on Saturnius kill them all for the being so absurd as having another opinion that yourself.

wha...? what i miss? afaik this issue has been adressed and is no longer a feature. and i think ur stretching it way out of proportion. if ppl are causeing a ctd then have u reported it? do u have proof? wheres the list of examples u have? can we discuss them all or just the ones u see fit to display? am i wrong in thinking its been fixed?

its a valid tactic atm... BUT... have u worked out how long it would take u to increase it if u were a constant podkiller? try venturing out of empire space if u feel the need to 'make them pay' everybodies doing it.

Well i would just say that most pirates finished this game long ago. They gate camp coz its fun. Back at the start they all minned traded ect. I can remeber on a few ocassion mining in the same system as Moo members.
The fact is lots pirates are just better at the game than you. They dont gate camp for the money. Most of them probally have a nice collection of bs. So stop complaning and just try harder.

I want to get into PvP, thats why i bought the game, now I dont want to be a pirate but with out them who would i fight, yes i can go to war with other corps but there is very little of that going on (well in my area anyway).
So chill out, you are only getting upset cos you cant mining where u want to, can u go anywhere u like in the real world....NO, example the holiday makers in Columbia who have just been kidnapped (i hope they will be ok).

No problem. and I do feel real bad about how this thread went. I didn't want it to turn into this kind of mud slinging. but I shoulda known better. I think in all honesty that this game is great even in its current state. just sux that we all forget that it is a game.
