The Omnidirectional change hit the rattlers hard. Prices are at, or close to, and all time low (within recent history). The ship was already at the low end of the power curve among Pirate BS, and the omni change (nerf) did nothing to help.
BUT: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4193449#post4193449
So among all Pirate BS, the Rattlesnake is the least expensive one and, according to CCP, the least powerfull one (which they intend to address).
Now, with all investments, this is highly speculative. When and how CCP will address the rattlers. Will the "fix" actually make them more useful? etc. What are the thoughts of the collective here? What price point do you see possible?

I'm expecting for or hoping for a complete drone rewrite within the next 3 expansions, and the rattler can't really be valued much lower than it is already. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

There isn't anything remarkable about the rattlesnake. It, and all of the Gurristas ships, do too many things poorly. They are trying to do missiles and drones with one of the two ship bonuses taken up by the the shield resist bonus. It just doesn't work. Something has to go.
Also, there is nothing that makes the Gurristas ships "special". Blood Raiders have great neuting amount. Serpentis have the strongest webs. Angel ships are fast with great falloff. Sansha are the only shield laser ships and they kick out crazy DPS. Gurristas have nothing that makes them special.
It would be nice if CCP were to throw out Gurristas in the current form and make them the only shield drone ships in game. Gurristas would then parallel the Sansha which are the only shield laser ships in game. Imagine a wicked awesome shield Domi. The only issue is that doesn't really work as rats don't use drones. The actual rats would have to not function like the player ships. Which is fine. it will just mess with the lore/immersion a little.
So yes. Pretty much anything CCP does at this point will make it better. CCP could make it slightly better or CCP could make it the most powerful pirate BS in the game. It just depends on what they do. At this point your guess is as good as mine. "tbh most people don't care about removing local from highsec. They want it gone from nullsec. I want to be able to solo roam hunt without everyone knowing I am there without them actually seeing me jump through the gate. Effortless intel is bad." ~Me |

thought about the same thing, it is one of the best looking ships, people underestimate that, if it gets a buff, it sure goes up... I would buy into it if I had some coin... I also think, typhoon fleet is underpriced as well as the gnosis, you might have a look at those as well... ... |

Lets just say that I've gone fairly deep on these. My collection of Rattlesnake BPCs is now more than one fifth of my total wealth.
Hell, I mortgaged some of them to buy more of them. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318489 - Proposal for a new type of tech 2 Destroyer If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |

You may as well just ask "Are CCP going to buff the rattlesnake anytime soon"?
They probably will at some stage, but the question is when. You could be waiting years :P |

Let's just say I bought a bunch (of BPCs not hulls) at 240m and under last night, and do not intend to sell under 400m.
Not sure if I will be holding them weeks or months, but I do not see them going anywhere but up, except maybe for a small while.
I considered buying hulls but decided the BPCs are slightly cheaper and are much easier to transport.
There's still a dozen or two BPCs around the 250m mark, and a good number of hulls at around 390m (IIRC build cost is ~125m).
Edit: Correction, it's 147m build cost. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318489 - Proposal for a new type of tech 2 Destroyer If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |

Seems one or two people bought out the market and relisted at a higher price. However, buy orders are still below 400M for now.
Considering that some (other ?) people built up a sizable stock over the recent weeks (wish I could toss "a few 100 Bn or so", like Ero ), it'll be interesting to see whether we'll see someone trying to take advantage of the higher price now or if everyone will wait for even higher prices.
If the RS is changed to a "two drone" boat (with a very high bonus as CCP Rise hinted at) and if that also apllies to sentries (and that's a very big "if") then the RS could be used to circumvent the coming limitations to drone assist which could make the RS very interesting as a doctrine ship which again might provide high demand and thus high prices. I'd expect to see prices at least around 600M or even higher then.

Ero actually didn't buy up Rattlesnakes, she was trolling there. I was telling her to buy them, however.
There are *no* BPCs on buyout contracts in empire at realistic prices at the moment. Jita sell price for the built hull is now ~480m and there are less for sale than there were before (I don't think this is much of a relisting; people seem to be doing a 'buy and hold').
As for the future use of the hull - pirate BSes can't be realistically used in blob fights as the universe does not produce enough of them to meet that sort of demand. AFAIK, no entity larger than Rooks and Kings uses pirate battleships as the centrepiece of fleets.
I see it as one of the premier PvE boats of the future, with some PvP use in small to medium gangs and particularly by empire mercs and wormholers. Of course the stats given to it may not support this, but even if it becomes a 'like a present Dominix but better' it won't be in any large alliance fleet doctrines any time soon.
Edit: For what it's worth, I am holding my stockpile. I'm not as deeply invested as many others as I don't have their capital, but I am holding twenty BPCs, a quarter of my wealth. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318489 - Proposal for a new type of tech 2 Destroyer If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |

There are two sell orders, one with 10, the other with 11 ships, which I had in mind. I only had time for quick glance this morning and I thought these were fresh sell orders - I might be completely wrong on this, though.

Yeah, you're probably right. I wasn't considering the limited numbers of available ships. But in any case it should be enough to drive demand and prices high enough to make a good profit.

Personally think the sneak change to escalation timers will be a bigger influence on pirate ship BPC drops.
I have 3 bpc drops from this month I haven't bothered to cart to highsec yet, ie my RS production increased considerably once I got around to testing 'hub' anomolies. If the RS bpc was worth 500m, I'd produce a lot more.
The only thing that will force the RS bpc up to 500m imo would be war in the north, I don't think merely buffing the RS would do it. |
