Originally by: Saryn Lightyear I've been doing level 4 missions solo for about 2-3 weeks. I use solely Dominix but not Megathron because I have not trained up my missile skills. Here is my current setup taken right off my ingame ship.
Hi: 1xHeavy 'Knave' Nos, 2xModal Mega Neutron Blasters, 3x250mm Prototype Railguns Med: 3xBarton Cap Rechargers, 2xF10-B Cap Rechargers Lo: T2 Large Armor Repairer(800hp/cycle), Large 'Accom' Armor Repairer(720hp/cycle), 4x Hardeners, 1xCap Power Relay
Mix of Webber, Heavy and Light drones, all T1 at the moment.
In my limited experience, if you can get your rat-specific resists up to about 80-85% you can survive the hardest single wave available in Level 4 missions by running 2 large repairers constantly, or you may do so with 1 repairer and 6 hardeners. By the hardest wave I mean getting webbed by 10 frigates, while getting shot at by 15 or so cruisers and 2-3 battleships all firing guns (expect frequent perfect hits). Most of the time you can run 1 large repairer incessantly or even just a medium t2 repairer constantly and get the job done. For those rare surprise spawns like in Sabotage the Supply Line you will want to have 2 LARs ready so you dont end up in a 'I warped but it wont budge, I wasnt even scrambled!' threads.
The cap rechargers dont matter all that much. You can go for named ones like Eutetic (18%) or even the plain vanilla 15% ones, since I'm using 5 in this setup. Some missions that require long range firepower, I swap in my 350 railguns and or a few drone navigation links + drone link augmentors.
It'll be worth our while to invest in a named NOS or few because of their added range. 'Knave' goes out to 23km which is where some of the cruisers will orbit at. That way you dont run out of NOS targets when you really need it. The extra NOS(es) does keep you running 1 LARs.
I've made about 2-3 billion ISK overall with this setup (loots, bounties, LP rewards, etc.) Keep in mind I'm pretty new to level 4 missions and spent some time early on to learn about these missions and optimize my fittings. I play casually and I dont engage in some of the farming activities such as Worlds Collide or Infiltrated Outposts etc. etc., so overall its a pretty good return ISK-wise, IMHO.
I've lost a ship in Serpentis Extravaganza stage 3 because of mass agro problems and the constant perfect hits as a result of the webs of death, but I've quickly recovered and made up for more than I lost, obviously. It wasnt as much a drone issue tho as some may tell you, since I got the same agro pattern when I went back in a shuttle. In some Deadspace missions you will get a group that agros you when you first warp in, and then the rest will agro you after a certain amount of time or if certain events occur, such as releasing drones or gang mates warping in. Theyre generally do-able except for a few buggy ones you should just hold out for now.
Have fun, I think I'm done with playing missions for a while. Going to train up my skills and try some other stuff or perhaps another game. :-)
Hope this helps... feel free to contact me in game for any questions with my setup if youre new to the level 4 missions.
Have fun, Saryn Lightyear
