This is really strange and does not happen to any other game. When I look at the light source in EVE certain parts of my ship become transparent but when I rotate the camera away from it then the ship looks normal again.
AMD Opteron 144 GeForce 7600gt 2gig Geil Dual Channel Ram Biostart T-Force Motherboard Running at 1600x1200 with 4x AA and 8x AF
Can someone help me out?

Sounds like the lighting effect/ship draw order isnt working correctly.. as its a graphics issue, are you using the most up to date graphics driver? Or possibly try changing your graphics settings to see if its effected by anything.

Yep, using the most up to date driver, and I've tried every possible graphic setting. I have no idea what is causing this.
Also I want to add that when I'm docked inside a station the ship looks normal, this only happens when I'm outside in space. The ship textures will be transperent no matter where I am rotating the camera twoards the light source. (Like let's say behind a space station, asteriod, another ship, etc.)

not sure if I understand the problem, but is "Sun is occluded by ships" ticked, in the settings thingie, if its not ticked the sun will show above your ship.
also, it could have something to do with the Depth/Stencil format or the Depth Format used in the graphic section of the esc menu, mightwant to try some of the other formats like W or some. not exactly sure what the difference is, but whenever I use other than Z, my graphics become fubar, might be the reverse for you.
hope this helped.

Well, I did try clicking the "sun ocluded by ships" button, then the textures turn out fine and are not see through when I look at the sun... but then the problem is that I can see the sun through everything. (obviously)
Let me try to explain it better, when I look at the sun certain parts of the ship become see through, I can see the sky through it, but not other objects. I can also see the sky through it even if I'm obstructed by a bigger ship/station if I'm looking twoards the sun. If I rotate the camera away from the sun, the ships textures once again return back to normal. It's quite strange.
P.S. I tried playing with all the settings, if somebody has some sort of an idea, please let me know.

I had this exact same problem, I fixed it by changing my color depth in the game video options to 24bit/8bit alpha, try it out :)

Edited by: Sehrcon on 14/04/2006 06:08:05 Yep tried those drivers when they came out, didn't help, plus they crashed my computer to a blue screen when I tried to tab out of Counter-Strike, so I had to roll back. Still having the same problem though Counting on you guys, 1 out of 100,000 has to know what's up here.

Well I fixed it, thanks to everyone who tried to help. What I did is uninstall the latest drivers because they were giving me problems and COMPLETELY removed them using a 3rd party program. Then I rolled back to the .25 Detonators and now everything is fine.
