Jove ships arent even balanced yet, they still have their old stats even, so if anything they're just equal or worse compared to the existing ships.

As the Dev's stated during the Vegas Q&A session:
Jove's will probably not be a playable race.
However all that space is already there. I cant imagine a scenario in which "Jove Space" will not eventually be opened up for players to explore. It may take awhile though but with rising subscriber numbers, all tose starsystems are gathering spacedust. Perhaps they will activate agents for Jove corporations(are the Jove capitalists?) And in that way make the ships(once balanced) available as agent rewards. Basically we can only wait, see and speculate.

If Jove ships were made available to players they'd make the other 4 races look balanced. But they would make a good CONCORD, what with being so wtfpwny and all, so maybe Jove space could be a second 'empire'? People are always going on about it after all. ----------

Edited by: Edgard Clochard on 14/11/2006 04:34:39 I remember hearing something around when RMR came out that if the option were made available to convert to Jovians players as an "upgrade" from their character's original bloodline in the future it would likely take a lot of prerequisites (skills and who knows what) and have some very painful consequences (like only being able to use Jovian technology, and being rather crippled in terms of other skill sets).

also, people have made their way over there before by means such figuring out how to set their clone station to one in Jove space, and then getting podded so they would appear over there, but the area was devoid of anything worthwhile as it hadn't been seeded yet.

2, and no, because you still need a cyno to jump to. regardless of if its jumping or using the portal

create a new capital-class vessel, the "Research ship".
Ship has a few guns, smallish dronebay, etc.
Can hold a small fleet of players.
Their use: They can jump into jove space and allow those vessels that they brought to explore the system they are in. They cannot use jumpgates.
The jove only allow a ship to stay for say, 48 hours before htey get irritated by them being on their backdoor and destroy them. the jumpdrive has a 1 week "recharge time" or whatever.
So people can explore jove space, reaaaaall slowly.
Obviously this would need a new timer, the "jove timer" or something.
What do you think? :)

The Jove are much better off as being the mysterious "other", Eve's aliens to be used with extreme infrequency by CCP, rather than becoming Eve's SWG Jedi.

Mmmm I actually kinda like this idea, but rather than make up a whole new ship class for it, why not just buff the motherships a bit a let them carry a small group of BS’s plus a medium sized fleet of support ships, and just randomly spawn cyno fields out in jove space, that are only there for a short amount of time, and only visible to players in certain regions / constellations.
It could spawn a whole new trade / commodity, a chat channel where people sell jove cyno intel etc.
Would also persuade more alliances to build motherships, which given there cost probably need a little more incentive to build tbh.
Of course the reward for building such a ship and getting there, would have to be well worth it, huge NPC BS spawns? Mercoxit roids with a 50% yield bonus? Could be massive fun!
Ya might wanna consider stealing any ideas you think are good from me and giving your plan its own thread, sounds good to me.

OK, back on topic -
We do need more Jove involvement - starting with missions with cool rewards.
They could also be the introducers of Tech3 technology :)
Maybe they could enter the game towards the end of Revelations to broker a peace when the empires are in danger of destroying each other completely ?
If you don't understand what I mean then read the EVE Chronicles story "Cold Wind" for an explanation. It's a good read too !

But I'd really love to see NPC Jove forces invade the whole EVE universe and start to pwn everything for one month or so after some diplomatic incident

Awhile back you used to be able to locate a clone in one of those stations. But Jove space belongs to CCP employees and they dont like to share. And If I remember right, that is where m0o got taken to, after they told the GM's to bugger off. I once tried to free flight to jove space. 23 hours and never got close But I did find lots of ships, secure cans, and other odd things on the scanner.
Free-form Professions, ensure no limetations on professions. Be a trader, fighter, industialist, researcher, hunter pirate or mixture of them all.

And then when the devs want to introduce jove stuff, have the "dread" rats drop 1run BPCs etc...
Another thing that would be awesome would be jove "agents" that would just talk to you. It would require a lot of backstory, but i guess it owuld be something for Abraxas to be getting on with 
I was considering this a bit more earlier. Perhaps have automatic rat BS spawns around where the research/mothership is so the "research team" always has to be organising defenses.
