http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1573640 was a very interesting post until it was rudely censored out.
Euro players pay, if they buy directly from CCP, more than 1/3 extra for a PLEX. I was gullible enough to believe I was getting a deal, and I bought 6 PLEX's from CCP at a price 37% more expensive than the US players. Why is this price difference in place?
CCP told me, after I petitioned it, that it was VAT and the exchange rate. I can tell you, although UK VAT is high, it is NOT 37%.
The exchange rate... well, every other supplier of official time codes seem to be able to work with that. What can I say...
PLEX prices in game is on the up, sharply, and CCP are sensible enough to realise they can print their own money in more ways than one.
I have had 2 accounts for 3-4 years, I have spent close to -ú1000 on this game, and I got no understanding from customer services in my petition. They simply don't care that it appears as if they are scamming their EURO customers.
I am simply writing here to tell you, before this post is censored into a black hole, do not buy directly from CCP if you value your money. |

Obvious truth is obvious!? Its not interesting for CCP that you buy directly from them just as it isn't interesting for beer companies to have their customers buying directly from the factory. Unless you buy in volume. Rated ARG for Pirates. **** you. |

Hmm, you have been playing for 3-4 years yet haven't noticed that CCP charges the same figures in both USD and Euro until now?
The diff between the two are not always (if ever) equal to the VAT that CCP is required to grab from Euros (Iceland isn't a member of the EU but they are bound to several rules as a member of the EEA) but the actual diff depends on the current value of Euro vs USD.
This hasn't changed since EvE was launched, so I fail to understand how you've missed this during the several years you've paid for your accounts.

Have never bought PLEX before. I guess it's just something that's accepted then, as no-one can change it anyway? I must be the only fool out there... Well, that's a good thing.
I guess I didn't need to warn people, as no EURO player (apart from me obviously) is silly enough to buy from CCP directly.
Don't be too hard on me, I meant well. |

I guess... Next time, if there is one, I will buy them from another supplier that can do the exchange rate conversions.
Hehe... It just occurred to me that Eve players might be saving the Icelandic economy, when their gov couldn't. |

if your from the uk, feel free to buy from anywhere in the world and not pay VAT on anything below -ú75 i think it is(may have gone up since i used to import back in 2002-2005)
the uk tax office dosnt care about low value items. only bothered if you go above that amount.
so never buy plex/gtc from ccp they add some EU tax on that from my very limited knowledge isnt anything to do with our tax offices. plus they make you pay in euros which atm dosnt work well for us. (back when it was $2.05 to the pound and 90day gtc's was awesom) CCP-áare full of words and no action. We will watch what they are doing, for now
