Obviously we need a section of w-space with only R64's that allows moon mining, but all the connections to it only allow two million kg in or out. They do.. oodles of empty space to rent out. That's where they say they are making isk these days. |

At least in Eve we need to process it and then ship it to market to make our iskies, effort beyond simply defending our towers is required. Not so in Dust, there it is just capture district, sit on district until clone limit is reached, rake in iskies. It is the closest to risk free Isk there is in New Eden. I mean, even Station Traders need to worry about the Margin Trading "scam"*. Suicide gankers need to lose a ship by definition, gate campers take the risk of being blobbed and losing their ships. Don't even get me started on the risks associated with mining.
Risk Free Isk =/= Passive Isk.
Nearly every other form of ISK generation requires you to have some player input on a repetitive basis. Except for MoonGoo. You bring JF to the POS and add fuel on Monday, and on Friday you empty the Silos and jump the product back to Highsec for sale. The 100 hours between you clicking a couple buttons buttons requires 0 input from a player to generate income.
Passive income is bad for the game overall, and isn't just limited to MoonGoo.

But you forget the big downside. You have to play Dust.
I know violence isn't the answer. I got it wrong on purpose. |

Or CCP figured that given the large number of w-space systems, it would devalue the value of moon minerals (grr nullsec cartels). Or possibly it never even occurred to them in the first place that people would live there and want to mine them, so they never seeded the moons, just on a whim. Marlona Sky wrote:A better question:
Why is moon minerals seeded on 0.4 moons but the moon harvester can only be anchored in 0.3 and lower? Because seeding all moons takes exactly 0 additional effort beyond only seeding 0.3 and lower. Are the 0.5 and up seeded or not? If not, probably mean it was planned to work from 0.4 and down and then a decision was made to only allow 0.3 and down. We had a high-sec tower a while back and yes, our moon in a 0.6 was seeded. It wasn't anything special, but it was seeded. On the topic of 0.4's being seeded but not able to anchor harvesters, I think it would be cool if we could anchor harvesters in a 0.4 though have it be some form of criminal activity. Catalyzes more conflict and gives those willing to take the risk the opportunity to make some extra cash. IDK how the "criminal activity" part of it would be handled, but I am sure it would create more conflict and emergent gameplay.
Just go to the 0.3 next door and shoot the pos there.

They are intended as a scarce resource for associations of players to fight over.
And even mentioning high-sec moon minerals should be a crime. Abandoned POSs are a pain to remove - who's going to volunteer to kill a powered, defended, gunned and *shudder* ECM-batteried one without dreads? No thanks.
Wormholes were not given moon-minerals so as not to reward permanent occupancy, I believe. |

Yep it's completely passive when other people have to buy it from you and you get their isk, all passive |
