Previously we had the Matrox Parahelia, while just about adequate for Eve, came up lacking in other more demanding games. Then Matrox brought out the DualHead2go which allowed one video output to drive 2 monitors. There now seemed a posibility to get 3 screen eve running, but problems with span desktop, and 3d support across seperate monitors when not in span mode lead to choppy framerates.
Now Matrox brought out the TripleHead2Go, which will allow proper 3 screen Eve. With the HUD in the right place. Currently ATI has an issue driving such a large 3D desktop but nVidia cards dont seem to have a problem.

Interesting - makes a lot of sense in terms of games to do it that way. However, the idea of having a 480 vertical resolution would certainly irritate me in games and I get the impression anything larger would cripple performance too much.
The window maximise issue for me is the killer. Once you've tried standard dual head on windows, this would just hack me off no end.
Shame about the price too, and given the fact it's unlikely to be hugely popular it's doubtful it will come down in price either.
Fantastic proof of concept though.

Yea, the ATI issue is a serious roadblock for this product, a lot of ATI users out there. The price ($299) is a even more serious roadblock. Factor in 3 good 19" TFT monitors and your close on $1200.. You could get a dell 2405FPW 24" widescreen LCD Flat Panel for that kinda dosh and have enough left over for a decent GFX upgrade.
Still,as you say, its a nice proof of concept.

I've just gone and done something a bit weird. I've managed to put my ATI Radeon 9700 into a horizontally extended desktop (the same way as your link) across two screens. Due to having 1600x1200 screens, I've now got a single 3200x1200 screen.
Now if only I had another of these 1920x1440 screens... ______________________

If it could run 4800x1200, it would be sooo perfect.

Also, I think it would be VERY interesting to have a 5-screen setup so that you have one screen directly facing you, one on each side of it at 45 degrees, and one on each side of you at 90 degrees. Hence, you'd be able to swivel a full 180 degrees, looking straight at screens the whole time. It would be a real immersion experience.
In fact, let's take the concept further.
What if the EVE graphics engine could be told (manually programmed, I'm sure) what angle your multiple monitors were at? You could use eight monitors to fully wrap around you, so that you could literally turn your head around backwards to see what's behind you. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Somebody care to explain to me how simply connecting the monitors to your video card and setting them up like that doesn't work? Is all it does is split one signal to three monitors?

Ok will try and cover most points, but your question is a little vague.
1. You say video card(singular)? Most GFX cards only have 2 Video outputs, and if you span your desktop, and try to run Eve, the Hud will be split down the centre where your two monitors join. While still playable, it is damn annoying. lol This only works with good fps if you do Horizontal span. So that both monitors are showing as a single monitor in your display properties.
2. If you install more than 1 GFX card, and have 3 monitors hooked up, no matter what way you try to setup, you will get choppy fps on one of the monitors. I thought the new pcix slots would have solved this little problem but apparently is not a bandwith issue but a Directx technical issue.
3. In the case of SLI, if you can span across 3 monitors then this has the possibility of working. I dont have SLI so unable to test this.
All that box is split the single huge monitor signal into 3 single monitor signals with the appropriate timings. The key here is that you are still rendering to a single device so Eve is as smooth as silk on it.
