Someone in my corp complained about this too. My data comes straight from t20's data dumps. I don't think I have the very newest version from him though, I will try to update it.

Nice utility.
Feature wishlist:
Removal of characters from the utility (not really interested in my nonexistant skilltraining of my alts). Just one icon on the sidebar. Double buffering... the flickering when the time counter updates is maddening. Sound notification.
Bugs: When updating the first time and going in on a character that does training the skill lvls shows both as minus 1 (-1). When updating more than one time a new sidebar icon appears for every character.

Hi two,
Quote: 01:50: Starting Update... 01:50: Error updating: The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.CheckFinalStatus() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetRequestStream(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at TwoStepSkills.HttpUpdater.Run()
Also, the 'tab order' on the options screen is borked: account name >> character list >> OK button >> cancel button >> accounts tab >> delete button >> new button >> username >> password ;)

So far so good. A couple of issues for me. Minimize closes the program :(
The program screen seems a bit too wide on my small screen.
Stupid question of the day :) how do you delete a skill off the que list. I could not get anything to work on that aspect.

The flickering bugs me too. I'll work more on it.
Thanks for the bug reports, I'll try to get to them tomorrow.

Do you have some sort of firewall that might block outbound HTTP/HTTPS connections?
I'll fix the tab order tomorrow as well.

It should just minimize it to your tray. Look for a little red or green diamond and click on that to bring it back.
The delete key will remove a skill. I need to add a button for it.

Just Zone Alarm, but I tried it having turned ZA off and got the same result. The ECM update is able to d/l the data fwiw.

Really nice program, I love it
One little wish, add a option that enables 24h format viewing in the "Time Done" field.
Keep up the good work!

When loading a character from an xml import, it does not seem to understand that I am currently in the middle of training a skill. How do I manually tell it that I am 17034 SP into whatever I'm currently training?

You can't do it. The manual import is never going to work as well as the automatic one.
I'll add the 24 hour time to my list. I probably should just make it respect your windows time settings.

Highlight the skill and press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.

I love it - it's slick and smooth.
But please change the grafx to a new, fresh look (instead of CCing ECM).
PS: the 24h option would be nice

Sorry I haven't put out a new version that fixes the minor bugs people have run into, I've been working on an exciting new project.
I just recently got a phone that runs windows mobile. Two Step Skills Mobile is coming soon. It will sync up with the desktop version, so you can always have your skill queue with you.
I'm hoping to have something to release later this week. The only downside is that I had to move to .NET 2.0, so future versions will require that version of the .NET framework.

I have the T-Mobile MDA (which is the HTC Wizard, in disguise)
Initially, I will be supporting Windows Mobile 5.0, but I will look into supporting 2003 as well if there is interest.

Edited by: Taer Brigden on 25/04/2006 09:09:49 I did not use it much so far, but it looks very nice. Thanks for that :)
Some minor problems and improvements:
- Options dialog: Title is "OptionsDlg"
- Skill queue: add tooltips for the five buttons
- What does the "S" button do?
- In the skill tree, display the current skill level for the selected char
- When moving a skill to the top, i.e. in front of the currently active skill, a new entry is added to the queue for the next level of the active skill
Regarding splitting a long skill , for me it would be best to do it manually: Say I have a skill training from 3 to 4 that ends at 4:00am. I select this skill for splitting and enter that the first part should end at 1:00am. Two Step Skills then calculates the skill points at 1:00am (and the percentage done) and replaces the line for this skill with two lines: - Skill, training 3 to 3 (80%) - Skill, training 3 (80%) to 4 The two lines behave like the lines do now when you split a skill that is queued for multiple levels: They can be moved independantly, but the second line cannot be moved in front of the first one.
Edit: added one more issue

very nice clean app I like it a lot. I think this is a very needed tool now that it can do something that the ECM cannot.... work correctly every time.
I would like how ever to request a few minor things: - total time for all queued skills - a way to see what lvl you have in a skill without having to select the skill. - a way to see any skills that I have not fully trained to the next lvl without having to select it( ie if I have a skill that is sitting at 67%). Maybe just color the text differently in the skill tree.
AS for the the Mobile version of the app let me know if you need testers for it. I have an phone running windows mobile 2003 second edition and I would be more then happy to be a test rat
Either way you go please keep up the good work

i like the idea of windows mobile version, although since microsoft ripped out the wifi syncing i don't tend to bother with it now... so i'm intrested if it can be used standalone
i don't mind testing as well, i got devices with both 2003/2005 mobile

Originally by: Two step Any feedback from people using the utility? Likes, dislikes? Bugs?
A couple of things i noticed early on:
- Tab order is wrong in "Options", at least under accounts
- Im finishing training of a lvl 5 skill now, but it says lvl -1 in the DataGrid (or DataGridView?) control showing the skill training.
Other than that: I love it. Future Falcons utility is nice and all, but it becomes to complicated for me launching two programs and pressing different buttons and such when i just want a quick overview of how my skills are doing.
Maybe you should take note of that FFET ? :) Like your app the way it used to be. Simple and easy to use.
Now im a software engineer, so "easy to use" for me usually means other people may think its too complicated

I don't think of it as a minor bug, I'm just not sure where to go from here. What ISP do you use? Can you try the program on another machine?
I'm not really doing any custom HTTP crazyness, I'm using MS's provided API. I haven't given up on you two yet.

Well, I am able to get to the xml download via my browser, and Eve Character Manager is able to d/l the XML. In reading ht reported error is it possible that your program doesnt recognise the connection as active?
I'm just using bog standard ADSL, so I cant really guess where the problem might lie...
