As an eve player, I can lay claim to one of the greatest firsts to exist. I was the first guy to shoot the statue in Jita in protest of the actions of CCP and the Incarna expansion. I was soon joined by a few other random pilots, then ten, then fifty then a hundred, the rest is history of course.
Shortly after the protests, when Hilmar's email was released, I decided to let my account lapse and with a heavy heart left what was the greatest MMO I have played and possibly the greatest there ever was.
But I kept watching the forums old and new, I followed the emergency summit, and the pledge of a change of direction with skeptical eyes. I saw the apologies but held to the same directive of the CEO: "What they do, not what they say."
Then came the results, new ships, fixes, new ideas, balancing and a promise that this won't be a quick fix update but the start of a new chapter of EVE.
The redundancies was a bitter pill amongst the sweetness of change, I never wanted people to lose their jobs, or have to leave what I'm sure is a fun place to work, but I guess it's a necessary evil for the pay off of refocusing.
So long story short, nearly five months later I decided to resub, and watch CCP from closer quarters, I'm still not totally sold on the future, 0.0, FW and other areas need a whole expansions worth of overhauls which can't happen until after Winter passes, but CCP you won at least one sub back, but I'm a trusting guy.
Don't break my goo filled heart again.

P.S. For the moment I'm still shooting the statue in Jita, Brian Haw style (mainly cos I've yet to find something to do with my time.), so feel free to say Hi! |

No matter the changes, high sec people chose the safests. Lots of stick and they will leave. Half the problem is the players in null sec; we do not want to be there with you. |

Who am I?
I'm just a player, one of many who were annoyed at being let down by CCP after waiting patiently for them to realise their vision. Like many others I showed my displeasure at the direction of CCP by first shooting an imaginary statue and then allowing my sub to expire that cumulatively with others sent a message to CCP which forced a difficult but necessary change which has turned this whole situation around.
I'm not saying I'm special, I was just lucky enough to be first, and I wanted to let CCP and others who may have worried it was the beginning of the end that CCP are doing the good job they should have been doing before.
I'm not anti Incarna, I'm not anti CCP branching out.
Did I miss the community?
Yes, I've grown a thick skin playing EVE, haters are always gonna hate, the internet is the hunting ground of the ********. But good lord when we do something right it can be glorious.
In short, well done those who spoke out, well done those who now remind CCP not to abandon Incarna for the sake of FiS and well done CCP for listening and trying to find a balance in this great game. |

I'm not to blame for CCP job losses, CCP over stretched on the bet that Carbon would be a success. It was not and the playerbase dropped off.
EVE is a business, we are customers, if a company loses customers people lose jobs. Sad but true fact.
I do feel a tiny bit guilty, but I've lost a job before in similar circumstances, so, life's not fair kids... |
