One idea that I have had going through my mind for the last week is an idea around sanctions. For instance, one alliance or corp could set sanctions on another enemy alliance or corp, therefore any members within the enemy alliance/corp could not purchase items that have been put for sale by the other alliance/corp.
I think it would be a good way for industrial guys to fight back against the pvp based corporations, and would add another political dimension to the game. I also think this would come in VERY useful when/if we get into corp named items. For instance, if one corp has created a cap recharger with a 25% recharge rate , other corporations would be hesitant to attack that corp due to the political ramifications.

That is a pretty awsome idea. Although it may have amusing effects if the profits from the industrial corps go down since their greatest customers are often the people that shoot them...

I had thought of the alt idea in noob corps, perhaps a "no npc corps" option as part of the sanctions as well? This could be an incentive for people to join corporations or pay higher prices for those willing to sell to them (I'll sell a macro miner a retriever for 1 bil!)

Edited by: Ellaine TashMurkon on 17/04/2006 04:13:51 This culd work well with the standing mechanism. For each full 1 between -10 and 10 a player culd set a price modification in range: 0 (get items free, like - allowing Your own corp to just get Your items from Your market offers), 1%-10000%, infinity (deny transaction).
Example:
8+ - 0 5+ - 50% 4 - -4 - 100% -5, -6 - 150% -7- - deny
By connecting it with standings, defaults are steered by alliance/corp politics, but a trader can use personal settings to chenge it.
This also has potential to eliminate the alt problem by settiong 0- - deny. and then settiong +1 standing to all major alliances and corps around.

Oh man... I can see one corp paying another industrial corp to induce sanctions on it's enemy, too. So many options here, and really a great way to let the industrial corps have an effect even when theyre not backing a side in a war with stuff!

Oh yes, very very nice idea.
Even though it probably can be bypassed, it's still a great idea and it would be an nuisance for the target corp nonetheless. Perhaps some smart filter options could even narrow that down.

Ahh, that would be a cool implementation of it!
