title pretty much says it all. I'm taking a look at the covert ops ships for the Caldari, since I'm only the CO skill away from being able to use them.
whats your opinions on them?

both buzzard and manticore are arguably best in their class.
buzzard is best for non-specialists due to its high CPU, allowing fittings with probe launcher and other mods without c/ops 5.
manticore has another cruise launcher on top of the 2 the others have, but as such it is a ***** to fit. it can be argued that the minmatar one or amarr are better overall, but for volley damage, manticore is king

Depends on what you need to do, want to do.
I don't fly caldari, i fly minmatar cov ops and there absoutly fun to fly
The cheetah(for caldari buzzard) can warp at 14au/s which is hella fast warp.
The cov ops ships are great support ships.
If your only one 40 min skill away, i'd go for it.
Buzzard(my cheetah) is a great ship to fly in dangerous space, it can scout, create instas for you, warp fast and get the job done in no time and undetected. not to mention i think the buzzard is the best lookin cov ops ship out there :)

Well, it's not quite 1 skill away. It's more like electronics upgrade 5 away, but that was next on my list to do, so it's 12 days away.
But, I figure cloaked is the only way I'm getting into 0.0 to set up instas and the like. I'd eventually get a manticore for fleet support and such, but for now, the Buzzard just looks like a fun ship to fly.

I love my Buzzard and I've only had it 3 days.. Heh.. especialy as I was able to get a Cov Ops cloak before they jumped from 24mil to nearly 50 mil.. What's up with that huge jump in iskies BTW?

Combination of increased demand because of the release of the Cloaking Force Recon ships and a price cartel on the Improved Cloaking Device II, this item is needed to build covert ops cloaks.

As an Amarr covert ops pilot, I can safely say that getting the Buzzard is a good idea... The Anathema is crap since it can't fit a Cloak + Probe launcher where the Buzzard can (not sure if any other races can).
I can still never get used to the name or the spelling of the Anathema either, which is as good a reason as any not to get one imo !!!

I have an anathema and can fit a probe launcher and a covert ops cloak, but i do have covert ops level 5. However, I use mine more for running valuable cargo as it can fit 3 wcs. even if someone is lucky enough to lock you, they are not likely to have 4 points of scram on you b4 you warp. ;p

I'm looking forward to investing in the Buzzard in the short term really. The manticore is a nice fleet support ship, but as my corp isn't exactly into fleet battles atm, it would be redundant. Whereas the Buzzard seems like a nifty ship just to pick a direction and fly with, hopefully avoiding gank squads :p

TBH I'd recommend cov ops ship for anyone with racial frigate 5. They're incredibly useful.

my buzzard snuck unscathed thru the 500-man EC-P8R week long blockade where each gate had 20 medium warp bubbles and around 50 ships present...that is why i love my buzzard, it really saved my ass where any other ship in this dire situation would have been space dust in mere seconds
