Edited by: Matthias DuBastyra on 21/04/2006 13:38:34 Personally, I think the Daredevil is a much closer match to the new cylon raiders. I do like the arc of the arms of both ships. I just wish the Daredevil had more of a punch for PVP. PVE, however, those little buggers don't stand a snowball's chance in hell! I like a good dogfight so I outfit my bad boy with two blaster II's, a rocket launcher--yeah, that's a right! I use'm for the high rate of fire, and a named Nos. Set my orbit at 1Km and utter things like: "By your command!" "WWWWoooooooh,WWWWWooooooh" <--the old cylon sound of the scanning eye. and of course, just before the NPC blows up, I say, "Does anyone have any milk? Because this is CAKE!"

Who's laughing now?
I am - because there was a Battlestar Galactica long before there was an EVE. The OP may have "meant" the new series and Slater may have meant the same, but neither one said that. It seems like Slater was unaware of the original series.
So I will continue my ridicule and mockery of his remark.
Its quite obvious you cant read the op commented on the slide down pannel on cylon ships thats a feature in the new less *** series. [and yes the old series is *** im just glad 'Lucifer' isant in the new series]
And hte reason i never stated which series i was on about well reading the OP its pretty obvious which one it is.

The original poster has a very good point. Just not with the ships mentioned. The maladiction is very similar to the cylon raiders.

All that these comparisons do, Is prove that the Eve gods are just as big of Sci-Fi geeks as we are...
I can't think of the number of "Star-Wars" B-wing to Merlin comparisons I've seen. On that note, Notice that the Probes Cocpit (misspelled to avoid sensors) looks like that of the y-wing! (Hmmmmm A long long time ago, In a galaxy far far away...... Hehe, It may be an old y-wing*****pit)

I went back over the post very carefully to see where he mentioned that, but couldn't find it.
Perhaps you could point me at the bit about the "new series" as I'm clearly too noob to read it properly?
Edit: I don't really give two ****s to be honest, but it just gets my back up when someone instantly jumps in with some smack when they don't know what they are talking about.

Well i dont think he had to specify considering.
A. the new series is out
B. the OP said "Don't a lot of amarr ships look like cylon ships from battlestar galactica? they have that slit across the front just like the eye/scanner on cylon raiders."
So anyone will clearly see that the OP was on about the new series, now in the old series the cylon raider is a 3 man ship and disk like in shape.
Now considering how obvious the OP was about which series he was on about i see no rason for him or anyone else to specify which version of battlestar galactica he was on about.

As to the OP's question well i can see the slit on the amarr ships but truth is thats all that really seems similar excluding a certain frigate of course.
Also about the argument concerning slaters post does it REALLY matter -----------------------------------------------

That's because he didn't mention it.

The problem is that it should be clear. The ne cylon fighters have this relly cool Knight Rider red light beam thing going on there. No pilot visible, as there is none, the new cylon ships are alive and kicking, all guts and brains. Bit like Omen and Geddon. Old series has completely other ships. And as Omen and Geddon are older than the new BSG, CCP can't have been inspired by it. Maybe the new BSG was inspired by EVE. So: First there was BSG, then there was EVE, then there was BSG Remake.
PS: Shebuck rocks! Faceman 4tl...

I would think if anyone could clearly see what he was talking about then there wouldn't have been any confusion, however since there was confusion I'd say he wasn't clear at all.
Regardless I agree I think there are several ships that look like Cylon ships, but I also see influences from a number of Sci-Fi shows ship types as well.

To you...exactly. To the others not so obvious, to someone that might have not (gasp!) actually have seen the new series not obvious at all.
And there were little scanning red slit lights in the original series, only on the Cylons themselves if I remember correctly but still it was nearly 30 years ago and we all can't read between the lines as well as others.

Well of course I have, what self-respecing sci-fi geek wouldn't watch any and every space adventure/drama he could focus his late-night, blood shot eyes on?
It's just that some may not have seen it, my point was you can't just assume everybody can pick up the same clues as everybody else.

Just in, CCP has released photos of the new Amarr Tier 3 Battleship:
Amarr BS
To confirm rumors about the new Amarr BS being a drone carrier, CCP has revealed that this Battleship will be able to carry and launch 250 Raider Drones, apparently a new type of fighter. In addition, it appears that the ship itself is designed to be a missile platform with several launcher hardpoints, as seen here.

I don't care if you guys think the Amarr ships don't look Cylon enough to be called Cylon ships.
I've been naming most of my fighting ships "Cylon _____" where _____ is whatever I think it should by (raider, transport, hauler, etc). I've been naming them cylon ships for a few months now =P

Actually changing the subject slightly (the mention of the Geddon in that post reminded me of this), it always surprised me in my early days of playing how ships look in game when I'd only previously seen them in the item database.
Main ones that spring to mind are the Apocalypse and the Ferox
Was this done on purpose for the website to keep the "oooh" factor in the game as people first started to buy larger ships in the early days?
