Anyone ever still been jammed by 2+ rats in a level 4 mission before?
I just got a new Raven for the first time and want to know exactly how paranoid I need to be until I get comfortable with the new hardware and mission rats.

If you are really afraid of being jammed, forget about the WCS, go to a resource game site, discover what enemies are you going to fight, discover who can scramble you, and kill them first, by any means.

I do not believe it works quite like this however I have not really tested it. NPCs can jam at two strengths (1 and 2). You are only ever jammed by a single NPC. So as long as you have 2 WCS you should never be jammed by NPCs.
Now, that said, I rarely use them, this is just what I have learned via this forum. Generally you can get away with 1 WCS but there are several NPCs that will jam you at 2 strength.

Edited by: Xzan on 21/04/2006 16:06:05 I am unsure how this works as i recently lost a raven on a lvl 4, i was using 2wcs and was scrambled by multiple frigates but i was unable to kill then in time and the battleships firing on me eventually took down my tank, i remained unable to warp out and my ship went pop (fully insured).
I am curious to know exacly how does it work? Do scramble attempts stack meaning i would be unable to escape even if i had 6 wcs?

Ive seen multiple NPC's with scrambler effects at various occasions. Im not sure what the scramble point total was though as i dont wear stabs and rarely warp out of missions. -------

i have been jammed before in mission, the only thing i did is ctrl-click until i could target again, but usually i do shoot the frigates that move the fastest because they are the ones jamming would or scramble you. _______________________ Recruting

Ugh. Looks like it's an avoidable risk unless I completely sacrifice my output.

Pretty much. By fitting one or two stabs, you're gimping your setup so much that you pretty much guarantee you'll need them. Don't fit them, and you can get by w/o warping out.
Hopefully. ________________________________________________

A little off subject. Anyone notice that you can loot uber warp jammers left and right, yet never get anything past a Warp Stab I? What's up with that? I can't even find any decent ones with +2 strength on the market. Is this CCP's way of trying to give an advantage to the pirates?

Didn't think the +2's existed.

They don't. I think that was his point.
There are named WCS, but they're all +1 point. Warp scramblers are +2 strength, but short-range, disruptors are long-range but +2 strength. ________________________________________________

I saw a post by someone who had 1 stab fitted and lost his ship due to being scrambled. He petitioned and got his ship replaced. I take that to mean that you're only ever supposed to be hit with 1 point of it and that anything more is a bug. I can't guarrantee anything though, so maybe you should fit 2 until you get used to things.
Personally, my favorite frigate defense is a wingman in an AF or interceptor. It's much more fun than doing them alone, and you don't have to make any sacrifices in your setup.

NPC's typically scramble for +2. Multiple NPC's will not scramble you, only 1 in a group will.
As such, if you fit 2 WCS, you will be able to escape 100% of the time.
This is the advice I give to members of my corp that are new to lvl 4 missions or 0.0 rat hunting, and none of them have ever lost a ship - at least, not while they had 2 WCS fitted, hehe. |

I am pretty darn sure that's untrue, and whoever posted it was just spreading myth around. It is completely normal to be hit for 2 scramble strength. The real question is if multiple scrambles will scramble at once or if they "take turns" and only one scrambles at a time. If only one scrambles at a time, 2 wcs and you would never lose your ship. If they all scramble at once, then 2 wcs and you will have a "decent" chance to escape. I prefer to just get the skill points and experience, use eveinfo.com, and never lose my ship because I know what to expect .
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. With mission resources you should never have to warp into a mission blind, but know beforehand how to harden, how to aggro, etc.

Only rare level 4 mission NPCs tend to warp scramble at a strength of 2. Almost all the missions with a few exceptions you are fine with 1x WCS. The bonus levels for the Extraveganza as well as some key NPCs have Warp scamble strength at 2. Zor for example.
So 1 WCS for 90%, 2 WCS for 100%
