Decoys and Masking
A decoy launcher would be a low power, high CPU device that launches a fairly expensive probe that mimic's your ship's signature. They would pop out directly on top of your ship, and slowly move away from your ship, flying in formation with you until you warp or jump, at which time they would explode. They would not be recaptureable. This concept would also work with drones, but typical drone orbiting behavior would need to be altered or the decoys would be too obvious. Visual identification via holoprojectors would fool the naked eye, as well as electronic spoofing to fool targeting systems.
A masking device would allow some ships to mimic other ship types. Variable CPU usage, but useable by any ship. The greater the difference between the ship you are and the ship you mimic, the more CPU you would require. The chances of successfully pretending to be a different ship type would be based partly on skill, and partly on the degree of difference between your ship and the ship you are pretending to be. A Prophesy attempting to pretend to be one of the Amarr Command ships would have a much higher degree of success than a shuttle pretending to be a Titan. If you activate weapons, the mask drops. If you take any structure damage at all, the mask drops. |

I had a version of this idea awhile back. Essentially a module that masked your ship as something else or duplicates your signal so there are "two" of you. Not sure on it's uses though.

Decoy ECM would be very useful indeed for a number of purposes :)

Yes it would. I dig it.
