When I did Psychology A-Level, we did an "experiment", where we wrote two lists on two pieces of paper. The first was a list of colours, written in the same colour as the word (ie. "red", "blue", "green") and the second list was a list of colours written deliberately with a different colour, ie. red written in blue, green written in yellow, etc. Then we timed people reading out the lists. Obviously the second list was much more difficult to read out than the first so took much longer.
It's a very good observation to try and mix up those different streams of perception like that. Clever! Only one problem though - as a secondary, he probably didn't last too long in fleet battles .

but this was a trial originally and i wasn't sure if i could keep the char or make a new one so i chose a name that was close but would still leave dao2-skp open for when made my real char

You're missing an obvious use of that. Name your character 'Blue'. Then you don't get shot.
